Need help, building CNC machine for steel and wood

First of all, I am completely novice and would be happy to help.

A few words about planning, if there is anything I did not write please ask.

The X-axis sits on a steel frame Length 145 cm on Width of CM 130.

Linear rails on both sides and screw in the middle
2pc HB30-1450 rails with 2 HBH30CA
ballscrew SFU2510-1450mm
Nema 42 stepper motors 110BYGH201-001 8A 30N-m (4200oz-in)
Driver Stepper MOTOR DQ2722M 220V AC is powered

The Y axis sits on aluminum supports, and the axis itself sits on a ready-made aluminum plate
Something like that
2pc HB20-1000 rails with 2 HBH20CA
ballscrew SFU1610-1000mm
Nema34 stepping motor (34HS15660) 12.0 N.m 6.0A
Stepper motor drives the DM860H

The Z-axis sits on a ready-made aluminum plate like the Y-axis at 50CM Same rails and motors as Y axis

As for the spindle, I really have no idea which one I need, some of what I asked suggested I take it.2.2kw water cooled spindle kit CNC
This spindle

Also about machine control I don't have much idea
I played a bit with Mach 3 so I thought about this cardMach 3 CNC Control Card 3axis XHC MK4 CNC
This card

Am I missing something? Is something wrong?
The X axis is already ready, what I need to prepare right now is the Y axis and Z axis where you can change what you want,
as well as the spindle I have not yet purchased and also the card. I would be very happy for any help on this

Where to download lastest PlanetCNC USB driver?

Hi guys,

I plan to migrate from old USB CNC controller to TNG software. Instruction says to download the latest USB driver first and points me to download section: https://planet-cnc.com/software/. In droplist I can not however see any usb driver for download. If I remember this correctly, I saw this option in the download droplist in the past, but now it is not there. Any idea where to get it?

Thank you.

hello everyone,
new in this forum and new to build my own cnc.
i own one router table machine ( actually this is my second one, my first was a Chinese 6040 to learn )and i am searching to convert my mill ( pm30 style ) to cnc. if i am in the wrong section please forgive me and i will move the post to a different thread.
So as i say before i am searching to convert my mill to a cnc and i am researching for motors drivers etc etc, i have some limitations as it comes to were i am ( greece ) and as it comes to European shops. my current machine runs with a g540 board and i dont have any problems at all. it runs daily from 5 to 8 uhrs with no problem at all for like 2 years. i have come across some close loop steppers ( china ) with the drivers nemma 34, and the price was is tempting , but if i go this way i am missing a board and i dont have a clue what board to search for. i forgot to mention that i run mach 3 and i will like to continue do so cuz i like it and i dont want to learn a new one.
Thank you all in advance.

Build Thread Need advice on my 24" Y axis build

Greetings!

Everyone has always been very helpful here.

Its been awhile. I need to build this 24x24" y axis. Think large size 3D printer for printing clay. See photo. My base is 3/4" Melamine, I have 2 20mm linear slides with 4 Bearing blocks, I will run a Small Nema 23 with 22 tooth Pulleys. I have on order HTD3M 15mm wide belt.

My rails don't have mounting holes.

The Bearing slides have 4 6mm mounting holes. I need to have springs, so I can Tram the bed.

So, I was going to run a homemade bearing idler on one side and the Nema 23 with 22 tooth pulley on the other.

I would appreciate any thought?

I have some separate parts I'm working on I will discuss in other posts.

Thanks!!!

Max

"equal to" operator not working in script

Im working on a macro for fine tuning my A axis index points of 0, 90,180, 270. basically it accounts for pulley variation and encoder error. After the A axis is commanded to a position, the adjustment macro is called which starts with:

A = GetOEMDRO(803)

This part works fine and returns the value that is currently in A axis dro. Then i run through some if then statements to move the axis to corrected value. For example:

if A = 90 Then
code "G0 A89.9780" // calibrated position for exactly 90 degrees from 0
elseIf A = 180 Then
code "G0 A179.7803" // calibrated position for exactly 180 degrees from 0
etc.

Problem is, A = 90 and A = 180 etc isnt working. I also tried exactly as its shown in dro, like 90.0000, still doesnt work.

I tried using a range of more than and less then, which seems to work. for example:

If A < 90.01 And A > 89.99 Then
code "G0 A89.9780"

Why does it work this way but not when using "=" ?

Mitre Joints on Lead cnc

Hello all!
i have a Lead Cnc (https://openbuildspartstore.com/lead...010-40-x-40-1/). i want to do a bunch of stuff, one of which is cut angles for miter joints, like in the pictures attached out of 18mm birch ply. I understand it would take many passes and be slower than a table saw and some jigs but if i set it up right, is it possible to get these angles fairy close? Joints can be filled, sanded and painted, they wont be exposed.

Thanks Bran

TNGv2 Buttons

I found the example of how to create new buttons in another thread and have a button working. I am wanting to add an extra coolant button in the middle of the toolbar. To do this I need to disable the default top button bar in the settings and then completely define the top toolbar from scratch. I did this in TNGv1 and it worked fine, but with TNGv2 I have noticed that you have moved to using SVG files for the buttons. I ma guessing the default buttons are embedded in one of the dll's so they aren't easy to extract. Is it possible to post a zip file containing all the default SVG's for using to redo button bars?
Also do you have any recommendations for sizing SVG's when creating new button images?

Really loving the improvements. Thanks for all your effort.

Simon

Back at Home and Ready for Online Training!

My summer is over. I am back at my home in Kentucky, and I am set up for online conferencing and training for designEdge software.

I will have to upgrade at least one of my PCs to the newest version of DesignEdge ... I think it is version 4.53 now ??? I am hearing horror stories about it, so I am not excited about possibly messing up one of my seats, but alas, if I am going to train people on the newest software, I guess I must risk loading it onto my own computer.

I will begin making videos again, and of course I will be available online by appointment, for one-on-one training sessions. You will need to have your PC with DesignEdge installed onto it, and connected to a reliable Internet connection. It doesn't work well through cell phone tethering and other patchwork Internet connections.

The PC does not need to be connected to the PlasmaCam table. Some people use their second seat in their homes to conference with me, and then go out to their shops to try out what they have learned.

It is BEST if you have two separate monitors on your PC. You will have your DesignEdge program displayed on one monitor, and MY PC's screen displayed on the other one. A single ultra-wide monitor will work as well, if you can split te screen and display two PC screens on the single monitor.

Other options are to use an iPAD or a laptop as the second monitor. This second device does NOT need to have DesignEdge software running on it. If it is connected tot he Internet and connected to the freeconference.com APP through Google CHROME, it will work as a second monitor.

Finally, the Google CHROME browser is required, and you need to install the freeconference.com extension into the browser. You will need speakers to hear me, and a microphone to speak with me. Alternately, and NOT as convenient ... we can phone conference via cell phones or a VoIP phone.

Freeconference.com does NOT allow remote access to your PC from my location or vice versa, so (currently) it does not anger the PlasmaCam gods.

You can communicate with me through the email address addmenow@mail.com

There is currently NO CHARGE for online training!

Hello Gents!

I'd like to mill a hexagon on a MoriSeiki lathe (with X and C axes) with Fanuc control. As I know the right solution is the G12.1 polar coordinate programming. Can you please help me out with the G codes? The hexagon is a SW30 (see attached).

Thanks very much!

Linz french lathe retrofit with Centroid Acorn

Hey

I am in the process of fitting a previously manual lathe with a Centroid Acorn board and Clearpath motors.

This kind of lathe manufactured by Linz, and a smaller model by Haulin, are made of a welded sheetmetal frame, while the slide rides on ground and nitrided 65mm rods. This setup is known for accuracy, stiffness and very small footprint, which I need above all.

Here are a couple of videos - in french though. If this thread shows interest I'll make some english videos.

Thanks,

Newbie Choosing between MGN12 vs SBR16 for Z axis

$

Hi all,

I am planning on making a new Z axis for my CNC. Ideally, I would like it to be capable of light aluminium milling. I am debating between getting SBR16 or MGN12 rails. Browsing online, both options are comparable in price. I'm thinking that the SBR16 rails should be the stiffer option due to the larger second moment of area however I have read that bearing blocks display some flex which ends up negating any benefits of the stiffer rail. Which rail would be better suited for my application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

TNGv2 Spindle Speed Recognition is unstable

$

Hi, the spindle speed "recognition" in the new version of TNG software is very unstable (I use an encoder with index). The software displays it periodically and permanently (in very short time interval) between 1802 and 2073 revolutions per minute (of course the spindle itself turns with constant speed without any load). In the old version it was much better: 2000 - 2001.

Need Help! Choosing between Tsugami B0206 vs Citizen A20 3F7 vs Star SR20 type G. Help!

Hello,

My company is in the process of purchasing our first CNC Swiss Screw machine. Of the three options available here between the machines mentioned above, I am unable to decide the best option.

One of the differentiating factors between these companies is after sales & service, which are pretty much good around here from my market study.

However, I am unable to select amongst the three for machining of varied materials such as Brass, Bronze, SS, Titanium.

From a cost pov, Tsugamis are the most affordable ones and Citizens are the most expensive ones.

Anyone having experience with these machines can help me out to select the best option based on a performance point of view? That would be immensely helpful.

Thanks!

NUM 750 ZAYER CNC MILLING MACHINE

$

Hi to all.
New machine in factory ZAYER with NUM 750 CNC control. My big task is to drill a hole in angle along Y axis. I can index the head with M136 command to that required angle, but i cant go further, the book doesn't tell anything about drilling in angle! If i use the G53 syntax and calculate the star and the finish point, the machine is in error state!
Can anyone write a sample CNC code for this task?
Thank you

Newbie Need help with eratic cut path!!!

Hi, I'm working on a dynatorch 12x6 with a hypertherm powermax 85. I'm very new to this table and program since my previous experience was on a plasmacam. My problem is when I load my ready DXF file onto the onboard converter and set the cut order. When it comes out the path has stray and bent lines. I use enroute for my editing and export it as a dxf simplified if that helps. If any other information is needed I am more than happy to give it. I have included pictures of the bad cut path and of how it should look. Would greatly appreciate the help!!!
