The machine is a Vulcan which is a rebranded Kasahara

Here are some pictures of the motor coupling

You can see a collar that is loose, that is just a collar... dont know what it does,

I also tried to remove the other set of nuts and they just spin...

I cant believe that it is this hard to replace a servo?

Any Suggestions?

I need a price on a Delta 20 system

$

I sold my entire 1988 Dynapath Delta 20 control system out of my old Lagunmatic 110 CNC on eBay. UPS lost the package on one of the hops before it even made it out of the state. Now they want proof of value before they will reimburse me the $1,000 value that I insured it for before I shipped it. I figured if I could find an old price list or catalog price or quote, anything with a dollar amount on it, that would scare them into submission (I'm guessing it's a cool 5 figures). Anybody have an old tattered, oil-stained, moth-eaten paper you could scan for me? I'd be forever grateful.

Fanuc Series O-Mate M drip feeding and PC setup

I got a Kira VTC 30 that I’m troubleshooting some on. I want to check the parameters and have the possibility to change them through a computer. It would also help a lot if I could feed Gcode from the computer since inputting them on the screen was really slow.

I’ve found some software that can be used for drip feeding but is there no free software that can do this? Isn’t there anything that can communicate better with the Fanuc giving options to control it more like we can with mach3/4? Prolly many stupid questions from someone that has no experience with Fanuc and professional cnc machines so bear with me :S

Need Help! Leadwell MCV-OP spindle belt specifications?

Our old MCV-OP (with fanuc control if that matters), at a makerspace in Helsinki, disintegrated its spindle drive belt today. So now we are hunting for a replacement and the first problem seems to be finding out the specifications for the belt. Trying to search for that information online didn't produce any results. Any help is appreciated.

Need Help! Mitsubishi Meldas TRA 30 and TRA 60

I am in the process of Retro fitting an old OKK vertical mill from 1985 according to the book that was with it. I have 3 Mesa cards to work with a 5i24 that is in the linuxcnc box, a 7i37TA that connects to it to break out the I/O and a 7i49 board to grab the resolver data. I'm trying to get one axis going, probably X to start with. On the TRA 30 board their is a connector that says something like ZP1 and from what research I could come up with through google and cnczone that seems to be the connector I should focus alot of my effort on. I found a chart on one of the cnczone posts that showed a TRA 41 pinout which seems to be similar to what I am dealing with on the TRA30. My question is what does LinuxCNC need to connect to inorder to drive those amps and what does LinuxCNC need from the 7i49 resolver board for feedback?

Any hints or tips from anyone who has ventured down a similar path would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey guys, I use some of the wizards that came with my mach3 software on my 770. I was wondering if I can use a wizard to generate a g code and then be able to save it like a normal program. How do I go about doing this.
Thanks

RFQ: double claw clamp - small project just a half dozen pairs.

$

Hi all,

I'm in need of a few sets of double claw clamps. For those of you not familiar with these clamps, they consist of two jaws (upper and lower) held together buy a through-bolt and nut. They're designed to clamp two flanges together along the edge. I have attached a few images to help you visualize this style of clamp.

Screen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.33.53 PM.pngScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.34.06 PM.pngScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.34.14 PM.pngScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.34.33 PM.pngScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.34.41 PM.pngScreen Shot 2017-11-01 at 1.35.02 PM.png

I have two 304 stainless steel flanges that I wish to clamp together. Ordinarily I'd buy several of these double claw clamps for about $5/ea and I'd be good to go. The challenge this time is that my two flanges are of different diameters. One is about 240mm DIA and the other is about 264mm DIA. So I need a special set of double claw clamps to do the job.

Materials:
I'd like these to be made from 304/316 SS. However, I'm open to using aluminum instead if it'll cut costs.
Finish:
I'm not looking for these to be mirror finished parts. At the end of the day, as long as there are no sharp edges I'll be happy.
Dimensions:
I can provide the exact dimensions but they'll be about 20mm wide, 25mm deep and maybe 60mm tall, fully assembled.

Would love to get some quotes for 6 pairs. I'd supply my own bolts, washers and nuts.

Kind regards,

Joe

Newbie Creating an EGC / Travis Bean style neck

Hey guys! I'm coming over from this post over on metal necks and yes, i'm very new to this, but i also see huge potential, i want to learn as much as possible about making these guitars! I'm not shy of sharing my work (once there is something to share, of course), i see it more as a learning opportunity.

If anyone has any experience in owning/playing an aluminum neck guitar and could contribute a few answers:
>An accurately measured egc neck thickness, this is vital to my study, and i can't seem to find it online oddly enough.
>Does the backbow created by the truss rod and fret falloff at the high frets in traditional wood necks need to be accounted for when designing a completely aluminum neck? (from internet research the answer is most likely no but i want an owner's opinion)
>How wide do the fret slots need to be for this kind of neck? Would they need to be wider than the standard 0.023"?

Europe Biesse Label Printer customization - on screen preview

$

Hi, guys, I was wandering if anyone could help me with some information regarding customization of Biesse Editor and Biesse Label utility. I am working on a Biesse Rover A Ft and we have this labeling software from Biesse, but all settings are at their defaults, it seems that nobody could set it up properly. The labels are all right, but the on screen preview of the label is carrying no information whatsoever about the piece (see picture attached) except the size and the milling program executed (wich is irrelevant, since in one worklist all are the same cuts mostly), so we often make mistakes while labeling (because the screen resolutions are ****ty and everything displays very distorted, compared to real proportions), so I was wandering is there a way to customize the information on the onscreen preview, and where to find these settings, in Biesse Editor or the Biesse Lprint itself? I tried looking for this everywhere in Biesse Lprint, but found nothing. Thanks for every input in advance.

Hi Guys, I am new to this as well as CNC. I "try" to do woodworking, mostly signs, plaques, and a speed loader. I am trying to make my wife a cutting board like one I saw on you-tube. It is the American flag. I drew out the stars, spaced, and aligned. Now I am having trouble finding a program that will allow me to cut them out, and then cut out separate stars to fill in with. I am cutting purpleheart and wanting to fill in with maple. Every program I choose shows me the cut star, but not enough room to place Maple star inside. I would appreciate any help with this. I have a CNC Shark HD Pro, and using V-Carve 8.5 software. Sorry to be so new and unfamiliar with this to bother y'all, but I would like a suggestion if any ideas. Thanks in advance guys, and Thanks for allowing me the chance to join and learn for the forum.

Thanks Again,

Frank

The "what did you do today" thread... also known as the "yes I made an oops" thead

$

I figured I'd make a just for fun/off topic thread (if it's allowed)....

So what did you do/break today...?

Well... I will start... I have been running my mill (97 Torq-cut 22) all day from about 10:00 am until the toolchanger started giving me trouble (invalid switch states when the toolchanger was out). That was about 2:30-ish. I decided it was time to stop and grab some lunch. after a couple hour lunch (pasta and the last 3/4 of Patriot Games). after fiddling with the tool changer and doing some internet search I figured it was the toolchanger bouncing a bit... thanks forhire. I pulled the cover and felt the tip of the "out" sensor and it wasn't crushed so I loosened the lock nut and threaded it in about 2/3's of a turn.

After a bit of testing, it seemed to be working better with no errors - Yeay!

Back to it... I have a run to finish. So I am plunking along 7m33s at a time. Of course my brother called and I talked to him for a bit... this was my fatal mistake... everything was going fine until, several parts in I hear a loud KACHUNK.... followed very rapidly by me slamming the e-stop.

After a quick search I find my 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.125" block of 6061-t6 sitting in the large pile chips at the bottom of the machine... I must have not tightened the vise enough... likely from being distracted by a phone call...

I pull out my glacern 3" face mill and it seems ok... I rotated one of the inserts just in case. Unfortunately, the little block that acts as an index on my BT40 spindle fell off. A closer inspection reveals that the head of the screw seems to have popped off. I will have to go to Ace hardware in the morning. If that is the only damage, I will be grateful.

So what did you do/break today?

re: ISO10, ISO15, ISO20
Does anyone know about the capacities of these tapers?
Lets say for steel, cold rolled and O1, what size cutters and feeds are these tapers designed for?

I know it also depends on the machine and lots of other factors, but nominally, is there any info out there, or anyone with experience??

I am currently upgrading to velocity control. In pulse mode motor was stable.
After changing to velocity mode motor starts turning without any commands from CN1.
While in test mode, Jogging motor acts normally. Motor only turns when bottom (CCW/CW) is clicked from mouse.
No alarms on amplifier.
Does anyone have a idea on how to correct this?

Mahoney CO2 Laser Power Probe Customer Reviews

5.0 out of 5 stars. A good CO2 power meter. By A Y Van Heugten on July 14, 2014. Very reliable. Less complex than a digital device, but does the job well. You have to wait a few minutes between readings, but that's a small price to pay for the the considerably lower cost of this item compared to digital meters.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Does exactly what is supposed to. By danielvwnwieringen on July 7, 2014. Does exactly what is supposed to. A great way to accurately line up the mirrors. Shipped and Received quickly.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Differential temperature testing. By PatrickK on October 20, 2015. Worked when used as directed, slightly tricky getting back to ambient temperature if using more than once using the "Cold water" technique as took a while to settle at new temperature. Adjustment quite stiff but overall gave good results.

The Mahoney laser power meter probe is utilized to locate bad optics. Maximum CO2 Laser output power is measured before and after each mirror. In this video, the final mirror is measured and found to be bad. The mirror absorbs roughly 9 percent of the laser energy. In general, mirrors are expected to absorb less than 3%.

The video provides a sample demonstration of the Mahoney laser power probe, and describes how it saved me from a fake seller of CO2 laser tubes.
