I have emailed, and called multiple times, left call back number and have not been able to reach anyone.

I am really interested in the 12z mill but can't seem to get in touch with anyone, can't buy one if no one is there.

Guess I start looking for another mill to use, I really like the size and can't seem to find any other mill with the working envelope of the 12z in a manual machine.

Need Help! Wiring new motor ? Consew 3/4 hp

$

My maxnc burnt up the motor so I ordered a consew 3/4 hp motor which seems to be popular for the taig guys. My old motors were both ac that just wire wired to an on/off switch and plugged in. I understand this one is DC and has a foot pedal. How does everyone eliminate the foot pedal and still adjust the speed? Would like a simple on/off switch (not software controlled) and a pot to adjust speed if i want to try with something other than aluminum.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Newbie Help with the Harrison Alpha 550 machine - "SERVO ALARM"

$

Greetings to all, I hope you can help me, I tell you my problem:

In the company where we work we have a machine 600 Lathes Alpha 550 year 1996.
The other day we turned on the machine as usual and nothing strange happened. From one moment to another the machine threw "SERVO ALARM".
We turn it off and on again, after starting the system again shows "ALARM SERVO", and we can not do anything else.
The bad thing is that we do not have any manual of the machine due to the years.
I would like to know if anyone in the forum knows this machine or if it has information on it.
Attached image of the fault and details of the machine.
Thank you very much.

Looking for someone to quote 1,000-2,500-5,000-10,000pcs. Don't have a drawning but the part is made from grade 5 Titanium and is made from 1" dia. Part is .750 long 45 degree bevel on side milled to 13/16 hex; this it drilled through with a 5/8 course thread. Thanks for your time and look forward to your quote. Contact me if you have questions. This can lead into a long time run on these parts.

New Machine Build Mach3 Retrofit to 1989 CNC Lathe

Hi all,

I'm looking for a little advice. I recently bought a 1989 Somab Transmab 400 CNC lathe in great condition for next to nothing. It has a Gamet power chuck, powered tail stock, Sauter 8 turret tool changer, swarf conveyor, 10kW spindle motor and came with 40 tool holders! It is controlled by an old Num 720 system which I'm looking to replace with a Mach3 setup.

Keeping it short and to the point, electronics currently consist of:

2 x Indramat TDM 3.2 AC servo drives
2 x Indramat MAC 090A AC servo motors
1 x Indramat KDV 1.3 power supply (100amp)
1 x Indramat KDA 3.2 spindle drive
1 x Indramat TBM 1.2 Bleeder
2 x litton G58LSLDBI encoders (not sure on spec)

I'm thinking I have the following potential options:

1. Keep AC power supply, servos, encoders and drives (no doubt analog - need Step2Linear). Mach3 via PP and breakout board? This would be easiest option if it was lucky enough to be that simple.

2. Keep AC power supply, replace drives with suitable AC step/dir units, keep servo motors, new encoders?

3. Removal ALL, use new servo motors, new step/dir drives, new encoders and power supply?

Machining of parts / modifications to fit new components is not a worry.

Which ever method you guys deem most suitable I then need to consider spindle speed / direction control through Mach3 (hopefully I can mate it up with the KDA spindle drive which I assume will be analog 0-10v), the Sauter 8 turret tool changer and numerous relays controlling the powered tail stock (on/off), coolant etc etc.

I have already converted our 3-axis Bridgeport Mill to Mach3 using CNCDrive DG4S drives, encoders, breakout board etc so I have an idea of whats involved. However I know this conversion will require most likely ALOT of work.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Need Help! Problem with oval holes

$

Hello
I am having a bit of a nightmare with my CNC. I have recently changed to a Chinese knockoff of the Leadshine Easy servo series, more specifically these motors and drives https://goo.gl/2uFKXr. The reason for the upgrade was because the old Nema 34 steppers lost around 2mm worth of steps after 15 minutes of cutting…
The new ones worked perfectly and the rapids was increased from 4000mm/min to 8000-10000mm/min (different settings for each axis).
Or so I thought!
I was making a little “pallet” with some 20mm holes to hold my ER20 collets. Somehow the hole was not round at all, off by 0.5mm, I also tried making some squares and they ended up pretty similar, see drawing below.

What could cause this?

I have checked for backlash and it is between 0.01-0.015mm (using ballscrews), therefore I almost can’t see how it could affect it that much?
It is worth mentioning that I did not have this problem with the old steppers.

So I am wondering if it is a tuning issue with the hybrid stepper/servos or maybe something about the timing of the outgoing pulses?

Thanks in advance

Best regards
Andreas

Need Help! Read current value of Kanalog DAC

Hi Tom,

How can I read the current value of a Kanalog DAC in a C program? I would like to implement a load monitor that would take a running average of several seconds worth of the DAC value but am not sure how to poll the DAC output value similar to how it is displayed on the analog status screen in Kmotion.

Thanks,
Andy

Fanuc Test Stand

$

Hi, I've recently started work for an industrial repair company and have been tasked with making a test stand for Fanuc Alpha Series in order to run a motor forwards and backwards. I have:

A06B-6077-H106 Power Supply Module
A61L-0001-0093 CRT Monitor - Series 18T
A06B-6078-H206 Spindle Amplifier
A16B-1212-0901 Power Supply
A16B-2202-0860 CPU

I dont yet have a motor and I don't know how to work out which spindle motor to use! (Help!?) I currently have the CRT screen connected to the CPU and I get lots of information on the screen. I know I can connect the Servo Amplifier to the CPU but will it recognise it is present? Is there a screen on the Fanuc Series 18-T that will show all the units connected to it? At least if I can do this then I can prove the communication is working.

Does anyone know of anyway to learn more about the older Fanuc models?

Any help would be most appreciated!
