I just got this lathe up and running doing first job on it. I have never used a Yasnac LX1 control before and have no manuals. I do have 5 Fanucs tho. I need the G76 line for a 1.687 - 20 Right Hand OD Thread, the material is 6061-T6511. Anyone know this info? My control has been converted to X+ = X+ and X- = X-. Thanks for any advice or help!

Hertz spindles

Does anyone here own one of these Hertz spindles from Turkey?

I have been having trouble finding an affordable used Colombo that I am comfortable buying so I am looking at some of the alternatives and these Hertz 2.2kw 18,000 rpm ER25 spindles keep popping up in my searches:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-AIR-COO...IAAOSwyltZPubB

It seems like they would be a step up from the Chinese spindles sellers on eBay but I have no data to back that up...

If anyone here owns one or knows about them, please can you tell me how they perform and if they are worth buying over the slightly cheaper Chinese variety?

New Concept Design (3D Model)

Hey you all !
So I am planning to build myself a CNC router for woodworking. At first I was going to use the default gantry moving design, but I had some minor issues about it. As you might know, support shafts and linear bearings are strongest when subjected to load normal to their plane. Basically they do not like any torsional loading, moment or twisting. The second issue was the relatively long gantry (in the z direction). To me the center mass seems a bit elevated and therefore "tipping/deflecting" seems easier (due to cutting forces and accelerations). So, I tried to make some modifications on the default design.

I do not know if the default design is actually optimal and that might be the reason why its everywhere. But I hope you can give me some feedback on my conceptual design. I already have some pros and cons to it.

Pros:
1) Linear bearings are loaded with minimal torsion (longer life and better accuracy).
2) Gantry's center of mass is closer to x-axis (more robust).
3) Gantry's overall weight is lighter and therefore faster velocities can be achieved.

Cons:
1) Overall needed material is increased (Thinking to use Aluminum 6061 plates)
2) Gantry may deflect more due to z-axis assembly (I added a normal plate on the gantry as can be seen in the last image, which may "solve" this problem).

Have a nice day,

1997 Cincinnati Arrow 1000 (A2100) - Communication Board

Hi all,

Has anyone ever encountered the LEDs and relays on the communication board flickering? When main power is turned on the LEDs over relays CR12,13,14,15&18 are dim and are flickering on and off. Seems like there is a short somewhere. I checked the 24VDC power supply, I'm getting good voltage there.

I have tried starting the machine but it will not make it thru alignment. Getting a number of random errors.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Kyle

Newbie How did you purchase from China (direct vs. alibaba)?

Hi,

New member here, but long time lurker...

We have a small Chinese CNC desktop router and found it quite useful. Now we are looking at stepping up to a much larger machine and are investigating many suppliers (again, from China).

What approach have you guys used to purchasing these? Do you buy direct or go through Alibaba? I don't think this second option is always available for all suppliers, but there appears to be some addition protection (potentially?) going that approach.

Just like to hear some other's experience and rational for the approach you have taken.

Many thanks!

Need Help! Sabre 500 spindle lube - grease vs oil differences

I have a Cincinnati Sabre 500 with a Heidenhain TNC 415 control. It is a 95 build with both the spindle chiller and DropsA spindle lube assembly on the rear. When purchased we were told the DropsA has never used oil in the 12 years they owned the machine. So they assume it was bypassed buy the original operators. The two fittings into the spindle carrier for oil have been blocked off so I believe the bearings must now be grease packed. The previous owner only cut steel at low rpm’s, so my question is will this arrangement be ok to run at 8000rpm’s ? and if not is there a difference between grease packed and oil lubed bearings? The machine parameters are set for 10,000 rpms so it may even have the optional spindle fitted. We are setting this up for mainly aluminium and need to use all the rpm available.

Looking for parts for a Koike PM2012

I am looking for drive motor for a Koike model: PM 2012 plasma table. My company recently got a Prima Power CNC laser and our plasma table sat for a few months. We recently had a job we had to do on it. When we booted it up it would not move on one of he axis. After being on the phone with a repair company we found it was either the motor or the wire and both were discontinued. Is there a place that sells used parts or a way to search for them. Thanks for the help I am sure I will be poking around we have 4 different CNC's and I am fairly new to the industry but leaning fast.

TT1800SY Doosan load monitor table zeroing when machine is powered down for the night

Has anyone had their tool load monitoring table zero when they power down the machine for the night?

We called Fanuc and they claimed that was not a battery related issue, because the program memory and tool coordinates would have then been lost also. They said Doosan tool load monitoring was not a fanuc product so we would have to talk to Doosan. We called Doosan, they said they didn't know and told us to try Ellison. We've made initial contact with a couple field guys who were not sure what would cause that and we've put in a service request. For now, our lead guy is going to be setting up load monitoring every morning, and inputting manually all tool load monitoring edits. That of course is a waste of time and money. Production up time is going to take a hit.

Hi,
Looking for feedback on 3 axis CNC drill gantry/router OEM systems for our manufacturing facility:

1. NOT China made (prefer made in USA if an option for local support)
2. FERROUS metal machining
3. Drill and tapping holes from 1/8-1/2"D
4. Possible spot facing off paint in small areas for ground points
5. Tool carousel of more than a few tools (~12-20 perhaps)
6. Capable of processing panels up to 72"Wx72"L (give or take) x1"H x ~0.125" thick steel (no Stainless)
7. CAD files made in AutoCAD and using Promise-E - direct import to run posted files

Thanks for help!

Bridgeport CNC retrofit

Time to start a new project.

I recently acquired this BP (not sure what year it is yet), and plan to do a mild restoration and controller upgrade. It's actually nicer in person than pics show. I've been scouring the CNCzone archives and found a lot of information about a variety of retrofit/conversions. Seems most of the threads are a few years old. Anyone currently upgrading their BP??

I don't have some lofty goal of trying to make a modern VMC out of a 30+ year old BP, with 200ipm rapids, etc. etc... I'm fully aware of this machines abilities and inabilities, and where it's place will be within my little shop. That being said, my initial plans are:

1. A thorough cleaning/inspection - repair/replace as necessary.

2. Paint.

3. Here's the area of debate - I want to reuse the original steppers (they do work nicely), and add a new power supply and controller.

The controller I want to use is the new Centroid Acorn. That leaves drives/power supplies to be determined. Seems that some are more than happy with Geckos, others swear by these; https://www.automationtechnologiesin...stepper-drive/ ....any others?

4. Possibly replace the AC spindle motor/vari speed assembly with a servo of some sort and 1:1 pulleys - to be determined.

Any info or opinions would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Quickdraw tool changer

I acquired what I believe to be a quickdraw tool changer. The I.D. plate says "Summit Industrial Products" DANA Model 216-300-02. I am looking for a manual for the tool changer, specifically a schematic and an installation manual. I can't find any of these on youtube and am interested in how they mounted to the mill. My NMTB 40 tool holders fit in the carousel. It looks like it can hold at least 12 tools.

Thanks,

Vince

Compact 5 Rebuild, Steppers, Boards, Mach 3

I keep seeing on YouTube a lot of videos by guys who have rebuilt their Compact 5's with new steppers, boards and software. However, none of them have the generosity of spirit which inclines them to tell me what steppers and boards they are using. I'm thinking of replacing the ballscrews as well. I'm looking for a list for a complete overhaul which will allow me to run my lathe with Mach 3 software. I have zero understanding of electricity, and I'm afraid that I'll short out and, or fry some expensive board upon startup.
Does anyone have a complete list of what I'll need to do the job and a list of suppliers and possibly a cost estimate? I don't want to reinvent the wheel here, I just want to gather the necessities, assemble them and run.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

in my company we were changing our location and now we have a litte bit problem with our CNC machine which weight 6900kg. The legs of the machine after transport are a little crooked. Our idea is to put under this legs a steel squares 20x20x2cm and I have a question, when we do this it's will be safe?
Maybe do you have other ideas how to do this?

Need Help! Operation>Transformation>Rotate .. G-Code issue

$

Hello,

I'm working with mill/turn for a lathe and most of my work is on the faces of the part (0,90,180,270 of a 41x41x900mm part). I'm having an issue when rotating operations to work on each face.

For example if I start at 0 and use the rotate option in transformation to rotate the a-axis by 90 degrees for each operation, the G-code will spit out (0,-90,180,90) instead of 0,90,180,270.

It seems to work when using 4-axis rotation with a single rotation for each operation but I don't use that at the moment (I pretty sure it also has an issue I'm not happy with but I can't remember it at this time).

Any input would be very helpful. If what I've said isn't clear, just let me know and I'll try to clarify the problem.

Regards

Hi

Sometimes I get 750 and 5136 errors. When I start. This error I get after the machine sits for about 4-5 days. If I run it all the time. It runs perfectly without any error. But when the Machine sits. It gives this. Please help me. I'm also electrical Engineer who is working in CAD/CAM/operations/ Machine design for about 15 years. This is my own machine. I bought it on 2005 brand new. And since this is his first major problem.

Where should I look. What should I open. Is there a fuse, I don't know.

I replaced the fiber optics but nothing happened.
