Need Help! external interface Robodrill

We installed a pressure differential switch as a part seating confirmation on our work holding chuck. This is wired to an input X 4.0 . From my CNC program i used M104. From the external interface function X4.0 -- Fin M104. with 1 sec . If the part seat properly my pressure switch is ON and the program will continue and finish the cycle. when the part did not seat properly meaning the pressure switch is OFF. My program line stop at M104 then feed goes to feed hold. The problem is if you press the reset button then pressing the cycle start the program will continue to the next line and finish the cycle. This end up of part being machine to the wrong position.

Can a macro variables assigned to an output or input?

Thank you,

hi all
im new to the cnc world... something like 6 months till now
i have build this machine (pic 1) from scrap wood and an old industrial printer parts, orderd some step motors (pic 2) , made the shild for the step motor controllers (pic 3) , made the power sorce for 3 motors and fan from an ATX power box (pic 4)

i made a temporery mount for a pen (pic 5) and attached a pen to the Z axis as a spindel for testing and calibrating steps to the GRBL $100 $101 $102 and since all 3 motors are same and my rods are same i have inputed the same calculation for all 3 of them.

after i have created a G-CODE in form of a CN file on MAKERCAM and i sended to the machine via UGS
the resolt was ok but the problem is that after it finish the job it stay on the last point it finished and not going back to the 0 , 0 , 0 point

anyone can solve this ishu ? any tips ?
thank you all in advance.

I have used the VFD (Micromaster 420 2.2kw) and new 2.2kw Chinese spindle. The VFD was configured as:
Р0003=1
Р0004=0
Р0010=1
Р0100=0
Р0304=220V
Р0305=8A
Р0307=2,2kw
Р0310=400Hz
Р0311=24000
Р0700=1
Р1000=1
Р1080=50Hz
Р1082=400Hz
Р1120=10s
Р1121=10s
Р3900=3
After pressing the start button, I saw an error A0501. I tried to turn the spindle again and it worked. But the error appeared again the next time it was turned on.
Do I need to change the VFD settings so that the error does not appear again?
Thanks!

Problem Oxy profile cutter with Burny 2.5 CNC

Hello, our oxy profile cutter broke itself over the weekend. It was left switched in standby over the weekend and when we arrived Monday morning the cutting head had moved hard over to one side and hit the hard stop. If we move it off the stop it will operate on the manual over ride buttons but as soon as the CNC is enabled (NC RUN) it shoots over to a hard limit again.

The CNC is a CMC Burny 2.5.

Any pointers where we can look please?

New Concept Design (3D Model)

Hey you all !
So I am planning to build myself a CNC router for woodworking. At first I was going to use the default gantry moving design, but I had some minor issues about it. As you might know, support shafts and linear bearings are strongest when subjected to load normal to their plane. Basically they do not like any torsional loading, moment or twisting. The second issue was the relatively long gantry (in the z direction). To me the center mass seems a bit elevated and therefore "tipping/deflecting" seems easier (due to cutting forces and accelerations). So, I tried to make some modifications on the default design.

I do not know if the default design is actually optimal and that might be the reason why its everywhere. But I hope you can give me some feedback on my conceptual design. I already have some pros and cons to it.

Pros:
1) Linear bearings are loaded with minimal torsion (longer life and better accuracy).
2) Gantry's center of mass is closer to x-axis (more robust).
3) Gantry's overall weight is lighter and therefore faster velocities can be achieved.

Cons:
1) Overall needed material is increased (Thinking to use Aluminum 6061 plates)
2) Gantry may deflect more due to z-axis assembly (I added a normal plate on the gantry as can be seen in the last image, which may "solve" this problem).

Have a nice day,

Keep Out Area and Pcokets the Width of the Endill

$

Hi,

I've been using CamWorks for some time now, so relatively familiar with the software but have now run into a problem that I've been stuck on for a couple of days and I'm out of ideas.

I'm trying to cut a basic square out, however I want to use tabs to prevent it form flying out or getting jammed and breaking my endmill. For this I've tried a few things.

First I tried to simply create an exclude area as can be seen in the first image. The outline of the exclude area is perfectly offset from the edge of my cutout by the width of my endmill. However, as can be seen in my second image, all I get in terms of toolpaths are the rounded corners.

I have side offsets set to 0, so that's not a problem. If I set side offset to -0.00001, then I get the expected x4 right angle toolpaths with the rounded corners. However it obviously creates a loop so it basically double backs on itself and effectively cuts the piece twice.

I tried creating a part with an island as can be seen in the third image. However now, even though side and depth offsets are set to 0, I get no toolpaths at all and the operations tree operation remains pink. Obviously if I change to a thinner diameter endmill, the paths then generate, however again, it's cutting a x4 pockets with loops.

Any ideas what is going on? Perhaps something simple that I'm not aware of, but I'm just no seeing it.

Newbie Fanuc Delta robots

Hi everybody,

I am an economist who got a task to perform a market research for Delta robots in Sweden. That being said you can imagine that I am a complete rookie when it comes to robotics and engineering in general.

I found a lot of information about Fanuc robots, but cannot find the "clean room class" and the materials from which the delta robots are made of. Could anybody here help me out and answer this? So:

1) Which clean room class do Fanuc delta robots have? (for ex. ABB has class 5 or 7)
2) Which materials were used to build these robots? (for ex. ABB used carbon fiber and stainless steel)
*If you have any good sources, books, websites, reports, that I could use for my research please share them here :)

Thank you in advance.
Regards,

Need Help! 160i-MB Boot problem. HDD change?

$

Hello all,
I have a Northwood Router that has a Fanuc 160i-MB controller. It has been having issues booting lately where it gets stuck in this endless boot cycle. I have searched this forum and others as well as talked to Northwood and the problem seems to point towards the HDD possibly going out. Northwood told me the only option for this controller was to do a retro fit to a new controller at $5000 in parts alone!

My questions is being that I think the HDD is still working sometimes can I not just get a new one and clone the old one on it and replace it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Repairing the threads on Chinese Spindle???

$

Has anyone ever had to repair the threads on a spindle before?

I have a Chinese, 2.2kw spindle, ER20 collet. I have always tried to be super careful and never crossthread, but I had some bit slippage on some toolpaths, so started tightening a little more than I normally would, and I think it damaged the threads. I don't think the metal these are made out of is all that high quality is another part of the problem.

In any case, it's getting worse - I've tried to go after it with little files, etc. but haven't managed to fix it yet. I'm ordering a backup spindle as we speak, but I would still like to fix this one if I can - that's the only issue I've had with it.

Does anyone know what the thread pitch is? I could order a die and see how that worked,,, although I'm worried I might start to get some runout.

Also, any recomendations on better nuts/collets, or tips and tricks to avoid slippage? Or better yet a quick change chuck of some sort would be absolutely awesome.

Thanks,

Will

Hello, everyone. Now I have been learning Fanuc macro programming, and I am confused about system variable about axis position in Fanuc 0i-TD lathe. I want to know what system variables #5021, #5041, #5061 and #5081 are exactly refering to, and are included tool offset or not, respectively.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Need Help! 31i macro argument issues

Hey everyone,
I have been writing macro and complex macro programming, and have come into a issue with our Tsugami SS-32 with 31i control. This is a quick through together test that has failed and I can not understand why.
If I put 42 or 0042 in #120 the process works but when I try to put 334 or 0334 in #120 it does not work and I don't know why. Is there a parameter that is blocking any thing more than 2 digits in the argument? I just cant find the problem if there is 1.
