I have an old Monarch Courtland VMC with a Dynapath 5c controller on it. We occasionally prop the control cabinet door open with the Tyrannosaurus Rex bone that came with the mill. No, is was never great, but it did work okay until recently. Now when I turn on the machine the X&Y axis vibrate back and forth like it can't get a good signal from the encoders. I was going to call to have it repaired, but it always seems to cost so much each time that I was thinking about an upgrade - I know......shocking. I would prefer something that could control the mill from a PC, like Mach 3 or other software, and I'm looking for suggestions from the group on what would be a cheap (or reasonable) upgrade but still give decent control features. Any thoughts on the axis vibrating while sitting would be helpful as well. Would like the ability to machine 3d profiles from solidworks/bobcad. Not sure which dynapath version would allow me to do that. Any help is appreciated.
