Hello,

My name is Tony,

I run a small business called squarepear Furniture.

I need a desktop cnc to make my products Gift Ideas, Unique Gifts and Personalised Gifts | notonthehighstreet.com

I am based in the u.k.

These product are made with a masterwood project 400L.

This machine is massive, and all I need is a small machine for my products.

Can anyone advise me.

So far i have had a demo from Stoneycnc.......which used a cress motor, and was a fantastic piece of equipment.

I just want a comparison before I decide to buy.

Kind regards,

Tony

v9 Crashes

well, my v9 build 1104 crashes often when doing stuff in the part-to-sheet layer. on my sheet i marked all my dimensions, i did a print to my color printer, and after that the sheet layer was not visible on screen but was still selected in the layers panel. at this point it looked like it stopped working completely, i could not change layers or anything, then i got a Crash message popup from the program, said it created a crash dump file, which it did, so i will send to Punch.

so, this ver of 9 seems to be a tad unstable, at least on my PC where v8 was working just fine.

Stuck tool holder

I have a Haas TM1. After some cutting yesterday I went to remove the tool and it is stuck in the spindle. Luckily I was going to remove it by hand so the tool changer wasn't used and didn't get damaged. The air pressure at the machine is good, the air is dry, the tool holder is good quality (Kennametal, used maybe 100 times). The plunger that kicks the tool out sounds normal when it tries to eject the tool. The cuts weren't particularly heavy. 11/16" HSS 3 FL EM, 1/2" deep cut, .050 cut width at 75 IPM in 6061 aluminum. So I am assuming the heat cycle the spindle went through in about 1 hour of cutting caused the taper (it is a CAT 40) to clinch onto the tool extra tight. So how do I get it out now? Do I try to rap the tool and shock it? Or pry on it somewhere? Or???

x2 CNC Machine not cutting true (see picture)

Hey guys, so I finally found some time to put together my x2 CNC conversion. I got everything to work great mechanically but for my first couple of tests I decided to mill some circular pockets and none of them came out true. I am using a NEMA 23 motor running at 1/2 step in MACH3. I also noticed that there was a slight delay between code lines while MACH3 was executing them. Is this normal? These are all the measures I took before cutting. What thoughts do you guys have?

1. I Clean and greased ways with silicone grease
2. I Checked for binding (adjusted and tightened gibs)
3. I Tuned motor and checked it against my installed iGaging DRO's
4. I Made sure G code was good.
5. Mill is trammed
6. Part was clamped down well to table.
7. Cutting tool was sharp

Solved I need a faster spindle

I used the adaptive roughing for the first time the other day and I am loving it.
Originally I had made a few soft jaws up for my lathes chuck with your normal type of toolpath, was taking 25min approx per jaw. I decided to go a bit smaller on the cutter, 10mm down to 8mm, and try the adaptive roughing. I was a bit of a coward and only set the feed to 600mm/min and gave it a go, worked very well and sounded much nicer and also cut the machining time down to 14min or so.
Well yesterday I thought what the hell might as well crank up the feed to what it should be, I am limited due to 3800rpm max on my spindle so could really only try about 1000mm/min but it worked great and dropped machining time down to about 8mins.
I made a few errors in BobCAD, for example I entered a very low Z feedrate for the finish passes, missed out a zero in them :D Also had square corner instead of round.
I am now looking into how I can increase my RPM as I could really take advantage of the adaptive toolpaths if I could double my spindle speed or more.

Anyway here is a quick vid I took of the first run, material is just mild steel and DOC was 5mm and step over was 10%

Need Help! lost Renishaw Probe Cycles for M2 Mitsubishi control on OKK MCV-800

$

I recently had a case of memory becoming corrupted on a M2 Mitsubishi (Meldas M2) control. We were able to recover all the parameters and other info and get it running, except for the macro programs that run the Renishaw MP-9 probe. No one had it backed up. Does anyone out there have a copy? OKK sent us a really old version that does not work correctly and has many bugs in it, and we have been trying to get it to work, but I know there are many MCV series machines such as MCV-520, MCV-630, MCV-410 machines, as well as a few Meldas M0 control machines such as PCV-40 that were equipped with these probes. There are no copyright worries on this, they consider the programs obsolete and don't really care at all. The control was used on machines from 1982 to about 1988 or so, when they switched to the newer 300 series controls .
They are usually numbered O9001 to 09100 or so. The important ones I need are O9010 to O9028 or so. The variables in these programs are not using #101, #1, etc but D1 to D80 and D101 to D129 or so. The software was created by OKK, not Renishaw. Renishaw does not have a version for M2 or M0 controllers, they only have M3 and newer controls, which use Fanuc style variables.
Thanks for anyone's efforts in tracking this down!

Need Help! MACTURN 30 OSP U100L1 DOOR INTERLOCK ALARM 1770 !!!

Hello guys,
I´m having trouble with my Macturn 30 with OSP U100L control. The problem is that whenever I´m trying to run in AUTO OR MDI Mode I keep getting the following alarm: 1770 ALARM-A Door Interlock 42

I can only run in AUTO or MDI Mode with a Feed Override below 10%... I have mechanically checked the door lock on the front door and it works fine.

Does anyone know if there needs to be an M-code run to get rid of this or any idea of what could be causing this??

Thanks

guys i am using fagor 8055 (drilling only) and it is only 1 month as in brand new. suddenly someone changed the parameters and it had a 2003 error (y axis feedback error) but thanks God i fixed all the parameters and it is working but still it has a problem on Z axis. I programmed 70mm but the actual is just 25mm. what should i adjust?? i attached photos of Z axis parameters so you can see and tell me where should i go (but these are not the actual program/parameter because it was taken before i fix the parameters for reference only so youcan see the sequence)01022014542[1].jpg. i really need your help thanks and god bless all 01022014543[2].jpg01022014546[1].jpg01022014547[1].jpg

Need Help! need help with mits fx 20 wire edm mpost

$

Hi. I am running a Mitsubishi FX20 wire edm. I am using a modified Mitsubishi mpost for my post processing. The machine has auto wire thread and submersible tank. The problem I have is when I need the machine to run unattended with multiple parts coming out of 1 wire block using a tab. In other words I need the machine to rough out all of the parts then come back and cut all of the tabs. This post works fine when there are skims to be done but when it is just 1 pass for each contour it does fine on the first contour but it thinks the second, third, fourth, etc contours are all tab cuts and inserts a full stop "M00" at the beginning of each contour. Like I said if I were to run skim passes on all the contours it works fine. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. I am attaching the mpost file along with the Surfcam file. I am having to edit the program by hand to get it running and that is a pain. Thanks in advance!

Just In Hello everyone.

I purchased a used cncmasters junior mill about a couple years ago with a copy of virtual mill 6. I've yet to create a single part because, while having great comfort with 3d design, the actual machining part has proven to be a challenge.

While going through the virtual mill tutorials of 2 and 3 axis I realized how much there was to preparing a routine and how little I knew about it.

I find myself lacking in knowledge of cutting speeds depending on materials, or pathing type, whether profile or facing, etc. there's so much to machining!

Other than taking a community college course, which is impossible to get into around here, what books or tutorials do you recommend so I can at least create my first part on this machine?

I feel horribly defeated...

Ty!

Build Thread Finished my 770 enclosure

I just finished my enclosure for the 770.
I made it out of 16 Gauge sheet metal, Aluminum angle brackets, and 1/4" machine screws.
Finished it with 2 coats of Rustoleum spray paint.
It (Almost) looks factory made,
The front panel lifts out, and is held in place by 4 brackets on the inside.
Now I won't have to take a bath anymore when running coolant.

Hampton Engineering

Hi! I found this Web site and it looks like a great place to get help on machining. I am a 77 year old, retire engineer from Silicon Valley. I moved to North Carolina and bought a Bridgeport to make instrument panels for classic cars. Cars have been a lifetime hobby. My Web Site is Hampton Engineering if anyone is interested in classic car panels. My present problem is selecting a countersink to clear Chrome plated surfaces from tapped holes after plating. This is Copper, Nlckel, Chrome and though the holes are plugged the screws won't go in until I countersink the entrance. My standard 6 flute steel countersink didn't last long. I am going to buy a carbide 6 flute countersink and want to know if the TiAlN coating is better than uncoated. There is no rush to machining it. Low speed is fine using a drill press. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks and lets all have a prosperous new year

Help on wiring usb cnc kit

$

Hi everyone, this month i decided to build a 4 axis CNC Router, to realize a lot of projects i drew in years.

I'm going to finish the machine, and now i bought on ebay some nema23 motors and drivers.

I bought a usb board too, it is cheap and not professional, but i need to wire it to see if my machine can work.

I can pay 20$ for a wiring diagram that works.

The usb board is this:

http://www.pennybuying.com/ebayp3/nE...251A%20(5).jpg

The nema 23 motors are WT57STH115-4204A with 4.2A 425oz-in
with blue, red, green and black wires (4).

The stepper driver is DQ542MA.

It has :
PUL+(+5V)
PUL-(PUL)
DIR+(+5V)
DIR-(DIR)
ENBL+(+5V)
ENBL-(ENB)

Setting switchs from 1 to 8

DC-
DC+

A+
A-
B+
B-

The power supply has 350W and 36V.

So i have 1 Usb board, 4 stepper drivers, 4 nema 23 stepper motors, and 2 power supply units.

If someone knows how to wire it at all, and wants to help me, i will be grateful
