I rescently purchased a mori seiki sl-2 1988 model from a freind who has a machines shop. He programed it to make my tooljoints and it worked fine in his shop, then when I moved it, fired it up, all programs show up, but when we try to engage cycle start it is dead. the homing works, and chuck turns etc. but it will not engage the program. I have a repairman but he claims he needs the electrical and other manuals in order to diagnose, problem is complete manuals are from japan, and $2500.00, was wondering if someone had a copy and would photocopy or sell for a little better deal, thanks. email lynchauger@gmail.com

Bolts for TSlot table
I'm getting ready to replace the MDF table with XZero's TSlot table. I'm wondering what bolts people are using that fit in the T slot? All the T Slot bolts I've been finding are too big. Maybe someone can post a link to bolts that would work?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Controlling spindle from Mach 3
I see a few descriptions of controlling spindles from Mach 3, but nothing I found that answers my question.
I have one of these breakout boards:
51j-kPKtJ2L.jpg
and this spindle controller (6v - 90v)
51AL9ajetOL.jpg
My setup is running fine with the pot that comes with the spindle controller and measured it out that it varies the control voltage from 0-5V. The controller pot pinout is GND-VAR-+5V
On the breakout board I have a 0-10V (-) and 0-10V (+) and a PWM output.
I have never attempted to control my spindle from Mach3 so pardon the ignorance.
Would i just run a line from PWM to the VAR input on the controller? or somehow use the 0-10V lines and configure Mach3 to run the spindle at 50%?
Here's some more pinout info for the BOB

Not Happy With Malicious pop up ad.
When I access the forum on my android phone a pop up ad comes up which directs me away from the forum site no matter what I do. Here's a screenshot:
Screenshot_2014-01-31-11-54-58[1].jpg
I don't press OK, but touch the back button on my phone, but it still takes me to a link to download an app, and my phone warns me before downloading the app:

Touching "back" again takes me to CNCzone, and the ad pops up again.

Need Help! Override invalid circle statement?
Hey all, I've been stuck on a problem for a couple days and decided to turn to the community for help.
I've been working on software that reads in GCode designed for a different brand and outputs the HAAS code. It's at 99% right now, just having one last issue. The other mill I'm taking the codes from only requires three decimal places, so it is posted that way from CATIA. The HAAS however requires four. This works for most issues but on rare occasion for G02 and G03 the I and J codes round in opposite directions, and flags Invalid Circle Statement on the HAAS. Vericut tells me that the I and J are off by 0.0004" which is way under our allowed tolerance, but the codes simply won't simulate on the machine.
So the question is this: How can I override the Invalid Circle Statement on the HAAS? The I and J are off within our company tolerance and I want to run the codes anyway. Any suggestions?

What is the voltage on the Switch?
I want to replace the ON/OFF switch in an old under counter radio I have in my shop but I dont know the voltage on the wires to the switch. How would you check it with a digital multimeter?
Would you set the meter to AC volts maximum scale first or to DC volts first?
There is a transformer inside the radio with no ID on it and cant follow the wiring to see where they are going. The wires to the switch are about 24-26AWG perhaps even smaller, and I have to press the switch many times before the radio comes ON so I think the switch is gone

Need Help! Colchester 3000L Bar puller problem, program stops after M78/M79
Hi All,
Long time lurker, first time poster here.
We recently acquired a Colchester 3000L CNC Lathe with Fanuc OT control.
Amazingly, everything is working just fine with the exception of bar puller work. The programme just stops after either an M78 or M79 when in auto run mode, my program is as follows (we are using a 'crocodile' style puller):
T0404
G00X20Z-14.6
G94G01X-10F500
M78
#HAVE TO PRESS CYCLE START HERE#
G04U2.0
G01W10
M79
#HAVE TO PRESS CYCLE START HERE#
G04U2.0
G01X20
G00X200Z200
I have tried M31/M32 to 'ignore' the spindle interlock function but the program just freezes when it tries to run the codes (I assume it doesn't recognize them).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
The book clearly states that M78/M79 are for opening and closing the chuck for bar feed/bar pull work.
Any help much appreciated, also I am missing the Fanuc OT Operators Manual if anybody has a spare copy!
Thanks all, John

Haas ST-10Y post, anyone have one?
We have OneCNC lathe expert with all the appropriate modules and a Haas ST-10Y with live tooling. The posts that came with OneCNC are not giving the right code for the live tooling. Also, there are no canned cycles for axial or radial tapping with the live tooling. Does anyone have a working one?
I can edit it, but have limited time to sit down and get it all dialed in.
Thanks,
CG

Looking for jet edge Waterjet Machine
I run a Waterjet shop and am looking to add a second Machine. Right now I have a Jet Edge 55-50B and it works great for me. I rarely have any down time for maintence. I am looking for the same machine because of it's reliability and for compatibility of parts with my existing machine. If anyone knows of someone who is selling a used jet edge I would appreciate it . . . Thanks a lot.

VF-6 not reading program on flash drive
The shop VF-6 does not see a program I have on my flash drive. Its a 2005 VF-6 VMC. I wrote a program on my laptop using windows notebook, saved it as a TXT file and loaded it onto my flashdrive. When I select USB on the machine I see older programs that I had on the flash drive but not the one I just wrote. I tried windows word to write the program that didnt work either.
Yes I made sure I was using the correct % codes and a proper o00428 program number. We have some newer machines so I tried it on the 2008 machines and it works fine.
So next I tried loading a program from the shop flash drive onto my laptop that I know works fine on the machine. Took that proven program and loaded it onto my flashdrive and the VF-6 wont see that program either. The confusing part is that the VF-6 does see the other programs that are on the flash drive. So I know the drive works and the machine is recognizing it and it works fine on the newer machines.
Am I doing something wrong here or is there a software clitch?
Fyi,,I dont have access to the shop cam software to try anything there.

Newbie Space Constraints
Like many, I have a limited amount of space to work with. I am trying to find a way to fit a router into my shop. One of my potential solutions is to replace my table saw outfeed table with the router. I would plan to build the router table lower than my table saw, so I could place a false table top over the router. I would park the gantry at the far end thus giving room during ripping of stock.
I would plan for the bridge of the gantry to allow long stock (8' or longer) to slide underneath during long rips. In cross cut of sheet goods, the table size (48 X 48 minimum, considering 48 X 96) will accomodate.
Thoughts?
Dale

Need Help! Y-axis lathe question
I have a question: I'm trying to use the y- axis on an okuma lathe to compensate for the the turret being off center .0125" - I used the G138 to command an x/y 0.0 but x goes to -.0433 any ideas why- no tool wear or nose radius offset. I am drilling a hole with a komet style drill, so I want the drill to be at true centerline, - do I need to change my plane selection to g17? For now I lied to it and commanded an x.0443y0 to get it actually where I wanted it but obviously that's not right? Please help!
