New Ruida RDC6445G Screen Problem

Hi all,

I am just in the middle of converting a Leetro controller to a Ruida RDC6445G controller. All was going well and I started to set the config up on the keypad screen. Whilst I was changing the X, Y, stepper settings I noticed that the fields I was editing started to look strange. When I restarted the machine the screen completely does not look as expected.

I have checked the cable connections and they seem solid, moving the cable around doesn't affect the screen at all.

Has anyone got any ideas on if this is likely a hardware problem or if there is anything else it might be? The buttons etc all seem to still work on the keypad.

controller positioning algorithms ?

For example any CNC controller. If I command a movement from 0 origin to X10 Y10, the tool should traverse a 45deg angle to the destination.
With resolution of internal CNC and resolution of motors and feedback mechanisms,
does the traverse actually take a path of minute, or even not so minute, series of stacked 'Z"s ? Like a minute series of zig-zags to the destination as one motor moves and then the other motor moves.
The feedback of the encoders is not (usually) presented to the CNC controller, therefore how does the controller know where the tool is during the transit? Does the controller need to know where the tool is during the transit?
The controller can only make an assumption AFTER the move, that the tool is where it was commanded.
So therefore why is not the encoder feedback presented back to the CNC controller?

Problem Bridgeport Interact 1 TNC145

Hello fellow CNC geeks :)

I have a problem with my interact series 1 mill and need to consult you guys on what you think is the cause and hopefully solution to my issue. Hope someone can help.

The machine recently lost itself and threw up an error message: "Gross Positioning Error B"

This happens on both X and Y axis.

I noticed sometimes the axis jumps slightly when moving the machine manually.

The feed rate override is also not working and seems to be stuck on full.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction on this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Danny.

Need help posting 4 axis code from 5 axis process

Hello,
New here. I've been programming a little while. I have a 4 axis horizontal mill. I'm trying to finish mill a complex pocket. I'm using 5 axis - general - parallel cuts. Everything looks right in the simulation, but when I go to post code, I don't get any B axis moves. My post supports continuous B. I even tried with my 5-axis post. I tried writing it up as a C axis lathe program. I just can't get it to post the rotational moves. Am I missing a checkbox?
Thanks

Hi Guys,
Have a major problem with our bmc40 ultramax,
Long story short, operator not paying attention, didnt set z value,
cycle start, catastrophic crash. The z-axis lead screw is damaged and housing.
Question basically is, does anybody know of any machines for sale for parts or repair for a bmc40.
I know its a longshot with the age of the machine but worth a try.
Any help appreciated.

Build Thread PM-932m CNC Conversion

Introduction

I placed an order with Precision Matthews for a lathe and a mill a week ago, originally the order was:

  • PM-1030V Lathe
  • PM-30M Mill

The lathe was backordered, so a week later I reconsidered my choice of the mill and decided to go bigger and heavier for just a bit more money.

So, I changed the mill order to be the PM-932m with the Power Down Feed and cast iron stand.

Both the lathe and the mill will be here in December, and that is when I will start planning to convert the PM-932m to CNC.

Wishlist

Here's what I'd like to do to the mill:

  • Convert the leadscrews to ballscrews.
  • Start the CNC electronics with simple steppers, upgrade to full AC servos later.
  • Change the R8 Spindle to an NT30 spindle such as the one from Charter Oaks Automation.
  • Epoxy Granite All the Things
  • Convert the motion from dovetail ways to linear rails.
  • Replace the spindle head with a Chinese belt-driven BT30 spindle, rated for 10,000 RPM / 12,000 RPM Max.
  • Replace the 1.1kw/1.5hp AC motor with a 1.5/2.2kw AC Spindle Servo, rated for 6000 RPM, 8000 RPM Max.
  • Belt drive the spindle with the servo with a 2:1 overdrive.
  • Add a BT30 carousel ATC

Initial Designs

Thanks to KCJ for sharing his excellent CAD models, it's helped me get a much better idea and a quicker head start on designing the upgrade.

KCJ's models:
https://github.com/KurtJacobson/RF45...r/CAD%20Models

So the initial design for the BT30 spindle and 1.5kw AC spindle servo was based on taking a giant block of cast iron and making an entire head out of it.

Assuming I get the mill converted to CNC first, it should be able to mill its own replacement head.

Initial Parts List

Ball Screw Kit:
TBD, have to find a matching kit for an RF-45/PM-45/ZX45/etc.

Steppers / Servos:
TBD, prefer to start with less expensive plain steppers just to get things moving.

BT30 Spindle:
Plenty of inexpensive 6000 RPM BT30 spindles listed on AliExpress, but here's one example rated for 10,000 RPM with a 12,000 RPM maximum:
high speed ATC BT30 automaitc spindle for cnc machine / cutting machine 12000rpm

AC Spindle Servo
Found a AC Spindle Servo that comes in 1.5kW or 2.2kW sizes that fit within a 150x150mm square frame, complete with servo, driver, and brake resistor - and single-phase 220V compatible.

How do these torque ratings compare to the stock AC motor? I don't know yet..

ATC

All comments and suggestions are welcome, this will most likely be a multi-year build. :)

I am located in Atlanta, GA, if anybody else has a large mill and is willing to help, let me know!

I am working on a project that requires exact zeroing on an exact point on my spoil board ...
I am looking for a 0.250 ID too with a dead center point on opposite end of the 0.250 end that I can slide over my 0.250 end mill to quickly find dead center ...
Anyone ever hear, see, or build such a device

[TNGv2] - Files and folders

Basically TNGv2 is just three files. An executable and two libraries. This doesn't mean that no other files are created later.

Setup will install these three files and subfolders:
Doc - here are user manuals
Lang - here are localization files for other languages
Samples - here are sample g-code files
Profiles - this folder contains profile folders which contain all your settings/scripts/configurations,...

Profiles folder is an interesting one. Upon first application start new empty profile named <Default> will be created with two files:
Settings.settings - this is main settings file
Keys.txt - this file contains keyboard shortcuts definitions

Other files used by software are also stored here. Most common are:
License.lic - this is license file
Parameters.txt - this files contains persistent parameters. Persistent parameters keep their value between restarts.
ToolTable.txt - this is tool table file. It contains information about your tools.
CoordinateSystem.txt - this is coordinate systems table file. It contains information about your coordinate systems.

Custom toolbar buttons are defined in files named:
BtnTop.txt
BtnBottom.txt
BtnLeft.txt
BtnRight.txt

Custom 'State' tabs are defined in files named:
State<num>_name.txt

Configuration for USB extension modules are in file:
Usb.txt

Expression evaluator configuration is in file:
Expr.txt

There are also some folders in your profile folder:
Scripts - here are all scripts that override default software behavior
UserCmd - here are your custom commands written as g-code or python script
UserGen - here are your g-code generators written as g-code or python script

Each of these additional features deserve its own explanation and tutorial which we will create.
