I have acquired a Shortcut cnc and am having trouble setting it up. Is there any kind of machine manual / schematic?
Can anyone tell me what the right settings are in Mach3 for the x,y,z axis and spindle? Any help would be great!

Need Help! Another Aussie Tool setter not working with SmoothStepper

$

hi Guys
have run my machine with Greolt's Aussie tool Setter for a number of years and everything worked well.
had to change computers recently and now running Windows 10 with ESS SmoothStepper. All if fine apart from the Tool Setter now not working.
I have tried using Greolt's 'Modified 1024 screenset and the probe/Touch plate registers on the LEd and in the Diagnostics page. I have set the thickness of the touch plate, however, it always seems to hang at the "G4 P3" - "G90 G31Z-4. F4" section.
Any ideas - it is driving me nuts.

Using CNC4PC C10 Bob's - work well - and the inputs set to 'Pull High' and the Pins sets to 'Active Low'. The input pins are at 4.98v.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Noel

ST30Y next gen control question

Just got a brand new ST30Y with the next gen control. Have two other older HAAS machines and for the life of me I can't seem to find setting 36 on the next gen control. If I try to start a program mid way thru on the older HAAS machines they will apply all the offsets, start the spindle and move to the position it should be in before the line of code you selected as the start point. Setting 36 controls this and when I try and find it on the next gen control nothing comes up. I search for 36 and press down and it comes up blank like that's not even a setting. YouTube videos show that it's available on the next gen control so I don't know what to do. Anyone have experience with the next gen control that can help me out.

Newbie CNC Size for Pen Plotter

I am trying to build a CNC pen plotter for my project. Due to the cost limitation, i will use NEMA 17 stepper motor. Is 1800mm x 1100mm working area reasonable with these steppers or should i go for a different size. Whether the speed and precision of this motor is good for this working area size?

Retro fitted dual ball screws to 6040?

Has anyone retro fitted a second ball screw to the gantry axis of their chinese 6040 CNC Router?
Not sure how involved it would be, or if it would be worth it?

I am considering doing that.....maybe.
Would probably fit it under the bed, like the original and have them as far apart as possible.
That would keep them cleaner but would make tuning the installs more difficult.

Interested in what others have done.

Installed a 15 watt laser on my engraver. Laser works fine in stand-alone mode but cannot control pulse on\off with my controller. I assume the TTL plug-in is what
controls the pulse? Using a Keyestudio rev 0.9 with GRBL. Any help greatly appreciated!

Need Help! A2100 start up diagnostics

$

Hello

I had the "Power supply malfunction" fail (8004e) many times without any dependence and tendency, so I was adviced to disassembly, clean the ISA ports and assembly again all the components of the controller. I disassembled, cleaned carefully with fine sandpaper the ISA's for any oxidations (male and female), blew them with compressed air and assembled again.
1. As result the system started to fail on the hardware diagnostics (Bridge board WS- Failed). Only once from about 10 times it passed the whole diagnostics and the machine worked about 1 hour fine, then appeared Realtime timeout (8004d) and since then it won't pass the Bridge board WS diagnostic. On the extended diagnostics appears sometimes 80C31: Failed; Realtime processor power-up: Failed and sometimes
80C31: OK; Realtime processor power-up: Failed. Can anybody give me advice where should I look for bad connection or something...

2. What's the proper position for hooking up the reset cable on the Bridge board (pic 1 or pic 2)??? On the pic 3 is how it's connected to the RT board.

Omio X8 Spindle Making Weird Noise

$

We've been using this spindle (GDZ-80-2.2B 110V 2.2kW 12A 400 Hz, water cooled) since August 2017, so it's held up pretty well so far. Recently, though, we've been noticing it's been making new sounds. They come and go and are pretty quiet, but there is basically always a weird sound going on. We think there might be an issue with one of the bearings - specifically one of the ones in front, since that's where the current sound seems to be coming from, and we worry that this will start impacting the performance of the spindle soon if we don't start taking care of it. We're looking into buying a replacement spindle so we can use that before we start repairing this current one so our CNC isn't out of service while we wait for the replacement bearings. Most of the spindles I've found that come up when I look up this product number are either 220V 2.2kW (which doesn't match our voltage) or 110V 1.5kW (which is lower power than our current one). We have run the spindle outside of the gantry while holding it and the sound is still there, so it's not from a loose part on the gantry.

The closest I've found is this one from Huanyang, which matches our spindle pretty closely in appearance and in the connection ports on the back, except it has a different logo and says it's rated for 5A, where the one we have is rated for 12A.

Do you guys have any recommendations for what spindles we should get as a drop-in replacement for our current one? We run our CNC off of an Omio USB CNC controller plugged into a 120v AC plug.

When we get our new spindle, what steps (if any) will we need to recalibrate our controller to work with the new spindle? The people who set up our CNC are no longer on our team and the rest of us only know how to operate the CNC, but not how it was set up.

square

Hi
I work in a company May have a milling machine with a sinumeik810d controller (simodrive611) My question is this
When I squeeze a square, the x axis has an error of 2.02 mm, but the Y axis has a 0.27 mm error.
Dear professors, please guide me how to make this difference
It should be noted that through the 32450 parameter, the backlash is reached to an acceptable level, but the re-axis y has the same error.
This problem can be solved with a parameter of 36500 md
In other words, it circles the ellipse.
It is worth noting that this engine has been newly opened and re-installed.
Please advise

Nema 23 Mount with BK/BF12 Blocks

I thought I had it all figured out, SBR16 bearings parallel to 1605 ball screw on Bk/BF blocks. The slides and ball nut housing lining up perfectly.

The problem is the BK/BF shaft is 25mm off the deck and the Nema 23 shaft is 30mm.

For my X axis is there a Nema 23 L mount that compensates for the 5mm difference. I would like to avoid adding spacers all over the place.

I found this step mount that fits the bill. I was wondering if there are other type that perform the same function?

Will LinuxCNC allow this type of commands

Need some direction before jumping into LinuxCNC.

I have an older (1996) CNC fabric cutter (Carlson Design - Simplicity · Precision · Performance) that I'm wanting to upgrade with new motors, controls and software (linuc cnc or similar). I can figure the standard XY side of the motors and controls however the machine uses an air solenoid to move the cutting head up and down (speed controlled by needle valves and dwell settings) as well as a pen. The "Z" motor actually steers the cutter in the direction it needs to roll the blade. For the cutter, think of a pizza wheel cutter. It uses a 28mm round razor blade that has to track in the direction it's headed and then lift up, turn and drop back down for corners or angles that exceed its steering limit.

Looking for info pointing me in the right direction for where to start searching this type of controls. Right now I don't even know where to start searching.

Thanks for the help!

I have ran the g code in a sim and all is ok. the router is using a CS-LABS MIO/IP-M motion controller. Anyone know whats going on here. thanks

Need Help! Putting M3 command in G Code starts router but stops movement

$

I have a DIY CNC router table that was built a while ago by someone else. I am using LinuxCNC to control it and the gmoccapy interface. Basically a few days ago was my first introduction to this device and I am super excited. Worked out how to import my 3D model into Fusion 360 and generate the G Code. The machine moves around and follows the steps but doesn’t turn the router on unless I do it manually in the software. But it stops as soon as I hit play.

If I put M3 on a line in the G Code the router switches it on and the program proceeds but the machine doesn’t move.
If I take out the M3 the router doesn’t turn on and the program proceeds and the machine moves.

I can just plug the router directly into a power point to force it on all the time but I know this isn’t how it is meant to work and am also concerned that it won’t allow it to switch off with the eStop.

I figure the problem might have arisen from playing around with the conf wizard as I didn’t understand it all a few days ago when I first jumped in there. Always my problem with new gadgets (as I am sure many can relate lol).

Does anyone know what would result in the problem I am facing and can anyone point me in the right direction? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Looking for a 2" 45 degree insert left hand cutting face mill.

I'm currently using a Walker 5" 45 degree face mill. It holds 8 SDGT1204AZN-F57 WSM35S inserts.

I could use the 4 good tips on each insert in a left hand cutting tool.

I searched Walter website and nothing.

Thanks

Need Help! X axis fault Error #1 but gives error #3 when amp card swapped

X axis fault Error #1 but gives error #3 when amp card swapped

I was doing a everyday machining job when all of the sudden the machine stopped and displayed a X axis fault error #24, tried to jog the table and CS, got #26 and after that only error #1 now appears.

I was able to get all the axis to jog with any sign of noise or binding but once the table got homed, the x axis fault error #1 came back.

After consulting with a parts dealer, I switched out the x amp card and y amp card and the the y axis faulted with error #3. I would think a error #1 would appear but it did not. Did it a few times and the X amp card always displayed error #1 for the X axis but error #3 for the y axis if swapped out. :(

Need Help! Mach Spindle Control

OK, I got Mach3 to turn on and off using m03 and m05. But can't get the throttle to work. Using Big Tex Blue screen, warp9td usb to parralell, and then to Gecko G540 control. To run the machine. I'm trying to interface the KCIb speed controler VFD. Using the P1, P2, P3 to gG540 terminal connections to 7/8/9. In MDI mode in Mach3 output#1 is on pin 14 which i have amnual control or typing in the M codes. But I can't get mach3 with all the componants to talk to the vfd speed control. The KCIB speed control create it's own power for the vfd signal. Also read alot on other chat forums and tired the setting on motor inputs, output signal, pulley set ups, spindle setup, and messing with all different settings. This motor for the spindle I bought from Sherline to get 1/2 horse power to the machine. Put can't get this mach3 to communicate throught the G540 gecko board.
