Need Help! Piggyback 2 CNC Control Systems?

$

Hi all

I've got a CNC Masters CNC Jr (poison I know). It has a USB breakout board with Gecko 201s on a separate board and proprietary control software. The USB chokes when interpolating commands.

I have a parallel breakout board but I want to get it running ASAP using the existing MPG (uses a serial connection) and driver board.

Is it OK to run the step/dir wires in parallel with the existing system and control it with Mach3 that way? I know if I bump the MPG while a cycle is running it will mess up but my main question is will anything be damaged trying to run 2x controllers at the same time?

It will save a lot of time rewiring and I can get the machine up and running with MPG control in about an hour if I take this shortcut.

When I have more time I can try and get the MPG running through the serial connector on the PC and disconnect the USB breakout board.

Thanks in advance, forgive my ignorance but that's why I'm here.

North America Looking to Purchase New OMNI basic 1325 cnc machine shipped to Toronto

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum.
I am looking to purchase New OMNI basic 1325 cnc machine from Omni from China. Link to the CNC 4x8 CNC Router China
I am trying to turn my woodworking hobby into potential business making nursery decor items and kids toys and bunch of other stuff.
Currently I own a small reliable hobby type CNC that does the trick but I end up spending a lot of time in setting up as work area is very limited.
I am wondering if folks here have purchased or have experience with CNC from OMNI. I have looked into other vendors from China but these guys seems to be better and reliable.
Howvwer, before I put my hard earned dollars to such a risk where things could go bad, some personal experiences will serve a bunch. Please chime in.
All the help will be appreciated.

Need Help! Understanding Quick Change Tailstock Options

$

I've been making something like a 3/4" cross-drilled brass spacer that requires spotting then center drilling 1/2" round brass before I part it off. After a couple hundred pieces, I'm sick of swapping two different bits into my tailstock Jacob's chuck. This is on an MT2 tailstock in my HF 3-in-1.

I'm looking at tailstock turret that takes 5/8" straight shaft tooling. Looks like I can get a couple of collet chucks that can be mounted with the bits I need, or use Jacob's chucks.

But are those import tailstock turrets rigid enough? I'm a far far cry from precision machining, but I do need a fairly well centered hole, and the business end of my tool is going to be a long ways from the actual tailstock.

Then I see they make quick change collets. How quick are they? It looks like you have to unscrew a retainer nut to swap collets, and that would take longer than getting things in and out of a single Jacob's chuck. They look nice and stiff, but slow. If I'm missing something let me know.

I also saw quick change tool post, but those aren't a super good option for what I'm doing.

Any suggestions or experiences are welcome.

thanks

Hello, please somebody send me information what should be settings of software program RDWorksV8 (Rdcam) for engraving plywood? Where are they set? It looks like something is wrong with settings or software because alignment and optics are OK. The details are too deeply engraved and thin lines are missed at all. Thank You in advance!

DiverBob if you are reading this post,
I am using birch or poplar plywood. I have uploaded .rld file as you requested. Please help me with settings. Thanks in advance for everyone who is trying to help me!

Tree Journeyman 310 with Dynapath. looking for manual or installation wiring diagram

1) Our local non-profit Makerspace just received a donated Tree Journeyman 310, which was operational as recently as 2 months ago.

We are looking for a copy of the manual, especially the part of it related to installation. An industrial electrician will be doing the install, we need the wiring diagram or other installation information.

I did find a .pdf of the manual available online, but would prefer to get a free copy if someone has already scanned it.

2) If we were to upgrade the controller to something more modern, what would be the most cost effective strategy? Any guesses appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Considering purchase of AccTek 1212 CNC w/ Rotary Thoughts - experience w/ format?

It will be my first table that I will have to grow into.
Opinions on Acctek for tables of this size and construction. Opinions about AccTek would be appreciated.
They want $4000 FOB to Montreal Canada for a Mach3 contoller, Japanese Driven Nema34 with HIwin, Rack and pinion, 8" Hi Z, Full length four jaw Rotary tool, and I believe a ER20 /2.2kW Liquid cooled Spindle

I am also looking at Jinan /Blue Elephant due to their new manufacturing plant. It is much better than in early photographs of completed machines that are ready for packing material. I am sure we have all seen these. I have not found a table yet that has the features of the AKG1212 but I haven't been looking that hard.
I want to deal with one at a time right now. They figure that if you are contacting them then you are going to buy right away. Hahaha,,.mhe
I was going to try to get a bidding war for my purchase. :-)

The price for the AccTek AKG1212 at ~4K $ is suspiciously low.
I am concerned about:
  1. the greater than arms length dealings,
  2. the language barrier,
  3. time diff,
  4. the method and quality of construction

I have saved for what seems like a life time, but really it hasn't been that long. I want to do all wood sculpting v bit carving and bust work, with a minor of ornamental wood embellishments for interior trim. I would also like to experiment in working with interesting laminates.

I want to buy from the USA, forget buying from my homeland:P looked at CNC Router Parts, but it is expensive and I have to deal with further 23% on top of the dollar value in USD for currency conversion and duty. :-(.

Any thoughts - pointers - experience with etc would be much appreciated.

Chris

I'm new to servos and have only used mach3 and open loop steppers. Im based in the UK and am looking for a control board to run some delta servo motors. I currently have a uc300 usb board of that's any help? Or would it be best to just use something totally different?

Thanks in advance.

Need Help! Anyone have a HT-20 w/ Fanuc 3T-F? need info!

Hey all. I need to find someone who has a Hitachi Seiki ht-20 with a fanuc 3t-f controller. We just moved our shop across town and the power supply went out clearing all the parameters. We have the original factory print-out of the parameters and reinserted some stuff still works but the spindle wont turn on and the hand-jog wheel doesn't work. We spoke to the Mori tech in Salt Lake and from what he's been able to find out there are some parameters stored in the diagnostics page that tell the controller what is it (machine doesn't know whether its a mill or a lathe etc) and ours were all corrupted. He said our only hope was to find someone with the same lathe and get their diagnostic parameters (parameters 160 and up). If anyone has one we would be eternally in their debt. This machine came with a few different controllers, ours looks like this.

Need Help! need help with post procesor for mazak 530c with smooth g

hi.

my workplace bought a new mazak 530c with smooth g controller in April.

and I am just starting to test out fusion to our 4'th axis. I have some problem with the post processor.

when I post the code, the post process do not write the movement for the A axis. it will use something called TCP(tool center on point, I believe it was) my machine do not have that function.
do anyone have a modified post processor ? ore maybe someone can tell me how I modify the one I have, so that the post process writes the code for the A axis?

now I am using the 4'th axis post process for HAAS but the code needs a lot of tweaking after being posted. and it is starting to take a lot of my time that I don't have.

PS: I am not at all sure how to make changes to a post processor.

I am thankful for all help I can get.

North America Looking for accountability partner/friend

I am looking to connect with someone in the US to have weekly phone calls - preferably on Monday morning to get the day/week begun on a good note. I hit the 'old-age' (65) threshold today, retired from the corporate world a couple of years ago, and am struggling to get our little business off the ground. The main focuses are, CAD with Rhino3D; CAM with RhinoCAM/RhinoTURN, and am a neophyte machinist. I have a Tormach 770 and a very small CNC 2-axis lathe. I used to be a Mechanical Engineer in my past life. I am looking for someone in a similar situation that would like to share problems, plans, and solutions on Monday mornings to get the week going. Networking and relational connections are very important to me and living in a very little town in N Idaho one does not have much contact in the areas i am now focusing on. I have been told by one machine shop I probably have the only 4-axis mill in the Silver Valley. There should be at least one person out there that would enjoy and benefit from a 'let's chat together to get our engines started and running on Monday morning'.

Thanks for any response!!!!!!!!!

Any cnc machinists/programmers have experience with coolant that wont "kill aquatic life" when leaked? Our shop uses Cimcool 1070 but recently we upgraded, our safety officer got hold of the Data sheet and freaked out.
