Good day, I'm new to the site so hopefully this hasn't come up yet (I searched but could find no info). I'm wondering if anyone on here is burning counter sunk bolt holes, square or normal, with their Hypertherm powered 5 axis machines. The reason I ask is that we have a 5 axis table and we burn a lot of counter sunk square holes for plow bolts. It is very tricky as far as height control goes and 20% of the bevels for the counter sunk crash. I have talked to Hyperthem about the problems, but have not heard back from them or my table manufacturer. Just wondering if anyone has encountered these issues before. My apologies if this thread already exists.
Cheers!

Looking at the Bridgeport Torq cut operators manual it talks about DNC link but doesn't say any more. How do I use the DNC Link?

Hi all,
I've recently acquired this New Old Stock precision level square that is covered I guess with the original wax from 20 - 30 years ago. How would you go about cleaning this tool?
Should I first mechanically remove as much was as possible with like a wooden stick and then clean everything with acetone?
Once I get a good clean surface, should I then oil everything right away?
Thanks,

We use a Greco Systems USB CNC Minifile for loading programs in machines. We use ipcas USB Floppy Emulator V1.31T with Windows 7 to load files on USB thumb drives. Our company recently upgraded our PC's to Windows 10 boxes and the software launches and recognizes the partitions on the thumb drive but will not open for viewing or drag & drop programs. Anyone have a Windows 10 USB Floppy Emulator working for them?

Is there a way to fix backlash happening on Z axis [Binns and Berry lathe machine] using parameter settings?
Mechanical adjustments were made but we still see 20 thou lag on Z axis when we make changes.
Thanks

Hi,
We have a Mazatrol T1 where after a changing the battery gives ***.** for both X and Z axis position.
We already put back all the parameters but still the position is not showing up.
Any idea what could be wrong here ?
Thanks for your input.

Salutations all,
My school has a forest scientific table router. We currently are using inventor HSM with HAAS generic for the post processor to generate code. The problem is that the machine cannot handle helical part entry, so all helical code has to be either changed to ramping entry & exit or manually deleted. Does anyone know of a post processor that works well with Forest Scientific? The machine and controller have no helpful identifying marks on them, so I've attached pictures. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hello, I am new to cnc zone. I would like to build my own servo driven 5 axis cnc. I would rather avoid Mach 3 and stepper motors, if I will need to upgrade later. If I am new to this, what would be the best control to start with that can be versatile enough to handle more complex things later, so I don't have to re-learn a new control later. I understand the best would be Fanuc or Siemens, but what is the best "low cost" control that is still able to quickly handle complex 1000's of lines of code? Thanks

Moved my tormach PCNC 1100 to a new facility. Got her all plugged in when i started her up everything seemed fine until i tried to reference the z axis and the screen was going but the z axis was not going anywhere.
I opened the box and i had red lights on my Z, X axis but not the Y.
Any suggestions as to what is wrong? NO fuses were blown FYI.
thanks,
Brad

I am hoping this is a simple setting and I have accidentally set something. When I issue the command M3 S12000 in mach, my relay kicks in and the spindle starts to speed up. the VFD is displaying 120hz. In the Ethernet smooth stepper data monitoring, the ratio sets itself to .5 and the velocity is a hilarious number (5368709) If I issue M3 S24000, vfd still displays 120 hz. I would keep playing but yesterday I had some spindle setting incorrectly set and made a little bit of magic smoke from the main 4 pin spindle connector. Thankfully it was already in the process of shutting down and I did a factory reset to start from scratch. Before I discover the magic smoke again, has anyone run into this issue? Am I just testing control incorrectly? Thank you for any advice
Control of the spindle via hitachi usb software or manual control still works perfectly. Mach 3 seems to be my bottleneck.
Setup-
Ethernet Smooth stepper
G540
Wj200
Mach3
Spindle - 2.2 kw 220v 400hz 240000r/min
Since I am used to manual control of the spindle, setting the Hz from 0-400 via F001 has been my go-to. I would love mach and the spindle to read-out rpm but I will be fine if that's not possible.

Hello
I installed TNG software under Linux andI have some problems :
1. I used Ubuntu mate like in tutorial. The install.sh script gave me errors regarding icon creation I suppose (missing Unity - wich is obvious in Mate)
I think that could be improved.
2.On screen bottom there is a value of 2400 - jog speed that can not be changed in settings. There is a value in xml settings file - jogspeed 40. If you changed it to 4 then the screen value became 240.
3.When I tested my little CNC (a modiefied Proxxon MF70) , jog movement is not so smooth like in old version.Like a squeeze movement.
Maybe because I had to remade manually al the settings and there isn't a manual yet for all the parameters.

I'm looking for an alternative to compressed air to blow chips without an air compressor.
Something tells me a desk fan with funnel isn't going to work, not exactly sure why, Google isn't giving me a conclusive answer but I assume that's not feasible.
Would a small radial blower like small electronics board fan do better?
I'm just looking for air velocities like blowing with my lips.
Obviously I'm trying to avoid a noisy compressor for a home garage shop, not drive the neighbors crazy.
If this is a common newbie question, please link other searched threads.
Thanks
Tyson

I am programming a Haas SL10 with Bobcad v28. At the end of the program the program loops and restarts as it should. The problem is it advances to the italic bold line and stops...
Spindle continues to turn but no tool movement. BTW this program and others written with Bobcad work fine when run with an (M30 or manually). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Multus u4000 with p300sa control.... it has it's own built in gear hobbing/skiving software but it is limited to only using a straight hob cutter as far as i can tell... u can make crowned gears using z and y axis feed motions just fine, but not "tapered" gears or splines using x and z axis feed motions. It has only one hob diameter input...
What im wanting to machine is a tapered root spline using a tapered hob cutter but im stuck and our okuma service personel has evidently given up on us. Have been in contact with them about this problem for months but no answers as of yet. I need to move the z and x simultaneously while maintaining the index sync ratio.
Im not a gear guy nor very fluent with okumas but have lots of cnc experience. The math involved in gear calculations make me cringe lol.
Does anybody know what im talking about?

I am having an issue with the turret. It is not clamping at 2 tool stations. The turret was taken off as the machine crashed. The turret was taken off and replaced and the tool stations that did not clamp changed (it started with problems at 9 and 10 then moved to 3 and 4). I read one post that the O-ring on the mounting place caused this problem but the surface has been cleaned thoroughly. Does anyone know any mechanical issues that would cause that?

Looking to press fit some steel bushings into 6061 aluminum. The bushing is approximately .500" in diameter x .500" in depth I need this to be a secure fit and not come out. What are folks suggestions?
My plan would be to pre-drill and then walk a contour cut in to the perfect fit.
Thanks,

I have 4 Am882's I'm in the process of setting up one of them initially had a green led and flashing red (Wiring was wrong for nema's) but not it displays only red.
I've changed the plug and tried the plugs from the other AM882's as well as trying it's plug in them they all work flashing green this one is red.
It's not in the manual, anyone else experienced this? Am I looking at a scrap AM882.
