I live in Miami, Florida and I'm seeking to buy a 4' X 8' CNC Router.

Is anyone selling a 4' X 8' CNC Router in Miami or elsewhere?

Thanks,

Any 7x lathe with 5" 4 jaw chuck owners?

I need to turn some 4" stock and currently don't have the means to drill a proper center hole(rebuilding G0704) to enable chucking the 4" stock to turn between centers in my 3" vise. So I decided it's time to upgrade. I want to max out capacity since I have upgraded my cross slide to extend out another 0.75-1" which I may increase later if I can remove a little more material from the carriage and or cross screw nut. I know the 4 jaw chucks have more capacity than the 3 jaw and mini-lathe.com lists that the 4" 4 jaw outside jaws have a max capacity of 5". I have also found some running a 5" 3 jaw chuck and the best information I can find is that the 5" 3 jaw with inside jaws has about 1/4" clearance with the bed which concerns me if you were to use the outside jaws on a 5" 3 jaw much less 5" 4 jaw.

Pretty confusing to try and type this with all of the 3,4 and 5" chuck size, 3 and 4 jaw plus inside and outside jaws but hopefully clear enough. I'm basically wondering would a 5" 4 jaw limit clearance vs a 4" 4 jaw assuming both were extended out fully utilizing outside jaws?

I am also including some pictures of my cross slide extension mod. It was done without buying a thing(rare for any upgrade/mod) using a piece of scrap 6061 and some bolts I had laying around from my 3D Printer build a few years ago. I have just enough lead screw to reach the center of a part for facing, boring and drilling plus almost an inch of extra travel which this lathe sorely needs. I know there is an upgrade that includes a new lead screw and carriage top but it's $75 and offers very little.

Also, don't cringe at my ways I know they look terrible. Probably worse since I started working them and stopped half way through. Still a work in progress.

Live tooling Orientation

Hi
I have just completed a sprip down of the live tooling on a Puma 280 due to some sheered bolts. Mechanially all is in line so I just have to set up the motor.

I found this on the forum

Set Keep Relay 0.6 to a 1.
Using "Single Block" will move the Stopper Cylinder in/out.
Set #4077 S3 until Stopper Cylinder and detent are aligned.
Check that the Live Tooling drive is correct. If not you will have to adjust the cam with the Span Ring. Then repeat the above.

In this case or parameter is S2 - anyway once I have changed the parameter how do I get the motor to move to the new position so I can check alignment to the detent?

thanks

Need Help! Running an Air Compressor with a VFD.

I have an air compressor with a 3ph 3hp motor. I bought the proper size VFD to power it. I really know nothing about programing the VFD. However, I wired it using the magnetic starter and it worked and motor stopped when to pressure(120psi) when I drained some air to 90psi it threw a code on the VFD. I reset VFD and it started just fine. I also wired the motor direct to the VFD and used the pressure switch running the wires to the GND and fwd terminals on the VFD as per a video on youtube. But the motor does not turn off at 120psi. So. Is there or What settings do I need to program in to the VFD?

Please recommend a good anodizer company (anywhere in the USA)

Can anyone recommend a professional anodizing company in the USA that can do small screws (4-40)? My typical anodizing is Type II on 6061 or 7075. Bright dip would be nice if they offer that.

Sadly, I'm looking for my 4th anodizer now. My last company (Pilkington Metal Finishing) shipped nearly 2 grand worth of anodized screws back to me without requiring a signature, with no insurance, and they never showed up. (UPS GPS showed they were delivered next door.) Pilkington didn't take responsibility for it, wouldn't even meet me half way with a replacement order, so I lost out.

The 2 companies before that (Danco and Deluxe Anodizing) couldn't provide the same orange color over the years. Many times the orange would turn out gold. Other issues were long turn around times.

Surely, there's got to be a professional company out there that offers consistent work and good service. Please recommend a good one.

New Machine Build Looking to add tool list output to post processor (Esprit 2016)

Hello, I am building an Esprit post for our new Tsugami mill. Everything is working fine so far, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get a list of all the tools used in the program at the beginning of the program.

In other words, I would like a comment at the start of the program that lists the tools used. Does anyone know how this could be done? I've tried everything I can think of from trying to list ToolChangeComment, to clstring(498), and a bunch of other random things I've tried. So far nothing has worked the way I want it to.

Does anybody have any experience with advanced post editing?

Hello here. I am trying to make a dobbelt sided pcb. But when i flip the board the other layer is misplaced. Attachments IMAG4040 and IAMG4014

Its look fine in Coppercam. see Attachment pic1

I tried to measure how much offset, compared to the bottom layer and top layer. and set the an offset i coppercam. see Attachment pic2
But in mach3 the offset is lossed so I think I need to do something in Mach3.

Have someone an idea what is wrong here?

Best Regards
Mads

Mach 3 - "Software Limits" Can't turn off Soft Limits

$

Background: I'm trying to restore a fairly old (circa 2008) Tormach PCNC 1100 running the Mach CNC 3 Control Software version R3.042.029 on Windows XP. I recently moved the machine to a new home upon first boot up I was able to run the spindle from the software alright, then attempted to reference all the axes, the Z homed, X homed (currently sitting on the home switch), but the Y direction started to make a grinding noise so I hit the emergency stop and looked at the software. Now it is saying "Software limits!" and won't let me reset or jog at all to back off the limit switch. On the Diagnostics tab in the inputs section the Y Limit and Home square is yellow while the X and the Z Limit and Home are grayed out. I've tried researching this issue and have found there might be a soft limits button that we should've turned off before referencing the axes.

Question: I can't find this soft limits button. I've seen on other posts that I should go to Config > Homing/Limits > Soft Limits. But I do not have a Homing/Limits option in Config. I have attached 2 screenshots, one of me hovering over the Config to show I do not have a homing/limits section, the second is of the diagnostics tab, and the third is of the the settings tab. If anyone could share some insight it would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

Introduction and Inquiry aboout Composite Machining

Hello all,
My name is Jack and I'm a sophomore at University of Florida. Most my knowledge is with waterjets, additive manufacturing, and a little on CNC mills, but I came to this forum in hopes of learning more. However my main reason here is to inquire on machining composites, particularly carbon fiber ones. I have created a carbon fiber composite in which I hope to machine into a fly fishing reel. Unfortunately I have had terrible amount of luck inquiring to local and regional machinist. Most never get back to me on an email or when I request for a quote. Those who do rarely follow up with more than one email. I was hoping it would be possible to get a recommendation or referral to a group that would be willing to machine a carbon fiber composite in which I have created. For obvious reasons its been difficult to find people who work with composites, let alone someone willing to use a customer fabricated one. Leads or help of any kind is much appreciated. Thanks

Toolpath roll over

Good Morning,

I am trying to cut a contoured slot through a part and can't seem to stop the cutter from rolling over when exiting. I'm sure this is something very simple what am I missing?
I attached an image of what I'm trying to avoid. One thing I did try with limited success was going into the advanced settings on the parameters page and setting the "Roll Tool" to "only between surfaces" this worked but I wanted the cutter to exit the part the distance of my containment box. and this setting made it so it stopped at the edge of my part.

I also attached my solid part in a .zip if anyone wants to take a stab at it, I am using Mastercam 2017. My goal was to have the cutter exit the part by .250 on each end, machining just the contoured slot as the rest of the part is finished.

Need help to size a fume extraction fan for laser cutting

$

Hello,

I own a Bodor 1610 laser cutter with a 130W tube. The table size is 1600x1000mm. I use 150mm diameter ducts. I'm based in France so I can source fans in Euro countries.
The supplied exhaust fan was a joke. I switched to a Teqnivent U/AP302 1,1kW at 240V, 2900rpm fan which is fitted to the exhaust port under the table (the one over the table is currently open).
The Teqnivent fan gives me a small amount of depression with fabric sheets but won't flatten a warped 1,5mm HDPE sheet covering the whole table.

I'm trying to figure out what pressure (Pa) and air flow (m3/h) combination I should look for.
I don't have the money for a big brand exhaust/filtration cabinet - my budget would be 1500USD.
Triphased power is available.
A DIY filtration cabinet is being built and will be connected as well.
I know that I also need to suck air from over the table which requires a T junction and some kind of adjustable valve to balance the pressure over/under the table as needed.

So far my only known real-world example working with a similar table size is a Trotec Atmos Mono Plus (8500Pa, 320m3/h).

Could you please share your own pressure and air flow parameters ?
