Fslaser's 40W hobby laser is being marketed as having 1000 DPI. The smallest spot size available for the laser is .003 inches. This means the smallest mark you can make is .003 of an inch, using the 1.5" focal length lens. FSL told me that you couldn't get a spot size any smaller because the focal length of the smaller lenses won't reach the table. A physical limitation.
If you do the math, the DPI comes out to 111 DPI. Off by a factor of ten.
FSL told me the DPI was calculated by the how many steps the stepper motor could take.
So basically, you can't get a 1000 DPI because your limited by the table depth and the lenses.
My problem is I need to get better resolution for a PCB stencil.
Anybody have any ideas on how to increase the resolution.
