Hi all,
Short intro : I am a watchmaker who wants to build his own workshop, with the endgame being to graduate to self employed prototypist.
Traditionally, watchmakers who do this buy 100 year old manual lathes (schaublin 102's or 70's mostly) and jig borers(Hauser M1 or SIP) and such, and do things manually. Now, i am not against that(in fact, i will buy a schaublin 102 as well as a Hauser M1), but anyway, i am very curious to get a CNC as well, it would make my (future)life a lot easier.
So, long story short, i need pretty high precision, 0.01mm is already big, to be really well off, 0.001 or less would be super nice. Oh, and it has to be as cheap as possible, speed is almost no issue at all. I would be machining german silver, bronze, brass and the occasional steel parts. And perhaps some delrin.
Am i asking to much? I have been looking at different CNC manufacturers, but i dont even understand enough to see the precision these machines provide, so i come here.
Btw, could you guys perhaps send me to a "idiots guide to CNC machines"? :P
