I am working on doing an engraving that is 0.005" deep that has some large, smoothly-curved areas in addition to some areas that contain comparatively tiny features. Should I start by using a large engraving tool to remove most of the material and then let the small engraving tool clean it up? That would seem to save wear on the small tool, although the remaining scallops will be too thin to cleanly cut
maybe causing worse wear? Thanks for your advice,
John
