Need Help! OT-a Parameter issues

Their are several issues listed in this Help request. If you can help on any one of them that would be great.

I have a 1986 Takasawa Lathe with an O-T a series controller. I registered with Takasawa and got my factory parameters. The parameters I received seem to be incorrect for my machine even though they had my S/N. They are working with me to verify that they are correct. On the machine position page both U & W and the X & Z read the same positions. Is it possible to have the machine not hold an absolute position? Also I don't know what parameters are off but I can't edit the programs. I need to insert the information I want put into the program, then delete the information I want to change out. When I entire a g28 X.0z.0 it moves towards the spindle a few inches then goes to it's home position. I don't know this machine hardly at all so I may be overlooking things. I have 3 other O-T controls and this does not act like them. I am also trying to establish a home position so that I can use the same tooling for several part programs. My other machines I have a dedicated tool that I know the distance from home to the spindle face. I use that tool as a negative value to the face of my part in my work shift page (it is entered as a negative number). on this machine it does not work, any ideas?
