Newbie Optoisolation

Quick question. I am new to cnc stuff and am trying to build my own diy cnc machine. I plan to use a planet-cnc 9 mk2 board with a DRV8825 driver. I read about optoisolation and am wondering if it is necessary to optoisolate the step and direction using a BOB between my control board and the drivers?
