New co2 tube not performing

Hi everyone,

I current operate a Redsail CM-160X co2 laser cutter.

The old tube I had was now going very well. It would struggle to cut 6mm acrylic and I notice the tube was starting to blacken. Another strange issue I notice ever since I brought it second had is the mA meter on the front of it never ever went above 4mA even at 100% power but it goes to 40mA...

So I thought we'll the tube is 4yo on the lable ill change that and see how I go. So I just brought a sdzlaser G150 tube. It's rated at 150watts is 1800mm long and 80mm in diameter. I installed the g150 which has little screw attachments (not wire) like the old tube. So I crimped and soldered little ring terminals on the end of the HV wire from the power supply and the earth wire at the other end of the tube and screwed them in place.

Now the metal ends of the tube that you screw these ring terminals onto are exposed so I'm not sure if I should seal up the entire metal end or not?

So I fire it up and after a few minor issues I got it running. Well it will emit a beam and mirrors are cleaned and aligned focal point is correct but it won't even cut through 3mm acrylic. I also noticed the amp meter is still only reading 2-4mA even at 100% power on easy cut 5.1.

I know basics but I'm not very experienced in the electrical side of a laser cutter.

Maybe I need a new power supply?

Maybe I need to seal the metal end of the laser tube?

Does anyone have any ideas for me to try?

Please help please help please help........
