Just purchased a CNC3020 connected to a JY5300 controller and have been unable to get it working with LinuxCNC.
I know the machine itself (servos, controller) works because this unit comes with a hand-controller and all the servos respond, etc.
When I switch the controller to "PC Mode" and go through Stepconf Wizard or run LinuxCNC, nothing happens. I've tried settings based on the manufacturer's instructions for setup with Mach3 (their recommended software for use with this controller) - and I've tried settings based on YouTube videos of others who have managed to get 3020s working with LinuxCNC (though I suspect they are using other, older controllers).
I have checked (using an oscilloscope) that signals are coming from the parallel port to the end of the parallel cable. Those signals "look right" - as in the Pin2 signal (X Step) is a series of short duration, high frequency square pulses and Pin3 (X Direction) is a slower series of longer duration, lower frequency square pulses. I'm assuming these are the kinds of signals the controller would expect - and the type of thing I'd see when the software and parallel card are functioning properly.
This leaves me thinking that the issue isn't software or parallel card related, but has something to do with the controller not seeing the type of signal it expects (or some particular pin it expects to go High staying Low). If the manufacturer recommends Mach3 are there settings I should adjust to make the output from LinuxCNC look more like Mach3 output to the controller?
Does anyone here have experience getting LinuxCNC to work with a JY5300 controller or a CNC3020? Any thoughts on what else I might try to get this setup working? Any thoughts on closely emulating Mach3 output using LinuxCNC in order to 'trick' this controller?
