Good afternoon, I have a 80/20 aluminum CNC machine I made with a stationary gantry. I have been having a issue with only my Y axis stalling. I am using Mach3 software, have tried whole, 1/2 and 1/4 steps will the same result, stalling after about 30 - 1 min into a test run. I have broken down the machine so that only the rail system is on the Y axis. I took off the router, motor and z axis slider; to reduce the weight to see if that may be causing the issue but still stalls.
I have a a HobbyCNC driver board connected to a unipolar stepper (57BYGH405A) powered by a 24v 10 amp power supply. The 1/2 - 10 AMCE rod is connected to the stepper via a backlash coupler. The Z axis and X axis have no issues at all. For Mach 3 I have had the Velocity at 30 and Accel to 1 or 2, this seems to be the smoothest setting when it does run.
Any more info I will supply to help me but this is what I have to start.
Thanks
Bob
