QC30 is Sh*t. Abandon it b4 your mill crashes hard.

Yesterday I was running some pretty heavy roughing on a 2" thick piece of 2024 Al. I guess the coolant ran low and the endmill got full of gummy semi melted aluminum. Result?

The tool holder (qc30) came out of the spindle, but not fully out... crashed into the workpiece, marred up the taper inside the spindle, knocked the vice off of its clamps, and also broke the sh*tty qc30 helical clamping mechanism.

Who's idea was it to push your tooling into the taper with two tiny little < 1/8" pieces of hardened steel?

After installing a drawbar (all-thread with welded nuts) my machine has less run-out by about a thou, and cuts with less chatter than I've ever seen out of it.

Screw qc30, I'm finally building a power drawbar and buying standard (not qc $$ sh*t) 30 taper tool holders.

Take it from me... just hurry up and switch before you waste money on tooling, and waste your workpiece, vise, or worse. Drawbar is where it's at for sure! you can feel the vibrations coupling into the floor of the shop now when taking heavy cuts. Why wasn't it that way before? because the qc30 was rattling around and destroying itself! heh!!
