I recently got my 3040z machine home and have been really enjoying it so far. The particular machine I purchased claims to be able to achieve 4000mm/min (~155 IPM) rapids and cutting speeds as high as 2500mm/min (~98 IPM). After getting the machine running I quickly learned that with 640 or so steps per revolution on the motors this limits the max speeds to 2000mm/min, according to Mach3. The instructions in instructions say your need to set your kernal speed 25,000hz but that means no mater what I am limited to around 2000mm/min.
Has anyone experimented with faster speeds or achieved the advertised speeds?
