First off hello, I have posted here a couple of times and always got good responses. What I am wanting to do is build a cnc router so i can make my aluminium case panels (I have attached some JPG for reference). The largest part that i be cutting is about 420mm x 300mm x 12mm (17" x 12" x 0.5"), Materials will that i be cutting Aluminium 6061 and Wood and some plexi glass.
I am trying to build the most ridged machine possible within my budget constrains. As for precision if i can cut these parts within 0.1mm to 0.2mm (0.007") I am happy. For the DOC and material removals I am not looking to break new records, i can do multiple passes with little DOC if needed i just need to get the form right. For spindle speed, since i will never use larger cutters then 1/4" and carbide spindle speed and power i was looking at the Chinese 2.2kW spindle with a VDF.
For the Router itself i would like to go with Chinese C7 ball screws with double nuts to eliminate backlash as much as possible. And linear guide rails maybe 20mm or even 25mm for the X, Y and Z axis. I didn't want to go with the round since i heard they are not as stable not sure if that is still the case, please let me know.
For the steppers i have currently 3 570oz steppers with digital drivers KL5060D, I also have a smooth-stepper Ethernet and a Mach 3 lic. I am not sure if that is OK, i was thinking I can go with that in the beginning and than change to Server Drivers (VSD-E) and Servos (300W) from granite devices later.
I am looking for most complete DIY plans for a machine like this, I currently do not have a lot of manufacturing in-house, so most part I need to buy, i have a drill press, some dremels and things like that.
For the build i have about $2500 to $3000 USD just for the frame and the rails and the ball screws and nuts, steppers, drivers I already have. Spindle is on a separate budget so does not have to be included here.
Please any advise help is appreciated, I also would like to get the build done ASAP, the funds are ready, I am ready to work on it every day.
