So I have been looking for a small mill that has a minimum of 12" of travel in the Y direction for my husband (whizbang). Below are 2 CNC machines that have I come across in this search. The Syil and the Novakon, they both have different features and set ups as far as the CNC portion goes but they are both built from the exact same base mill. They both are missing a few features that I want, so ideally I want to purchase just the base mill. The Syil cnc offered a "big table" as an additional feature and Novakon Torus Pro was just built with the larger table. However when I contacted both companies they both said they do not sell the basemill mill alone without their CNC capabilities. Syil also informed me, after I asked about the availability of just the basemill, that their factory/supplier is discontinuing the "big table" feature. My question for all of you is where can I get a "small" mill with a minimum of 12" of travel in the Y direction, preferably without CNC capabilities?
I have always looked at the IHC and MTW 45s however from what I have seen and heard they do not seem as robust. If there was a way to stretch a G0704 that much I would be more than happy with it. I don't plan on cutting extremely tough materials, just aluminum, plastics and some woods. I have also looked at Tormach and it is not big enough.
I already have a CNC router, however the machining I plan on doing it beyond the capabilities of it. Do you know where I can source a CNC mill like the Syil or Novakon? I could really use some help.
