:confused:Hello everyone, I am newbie in engineer design and currently have a problem with my calculation. Please if you could help me out.... I am very appreciated it. If you have any other information need to find out, please let me know or email me at vunguyen0522@gmail.com....
Question:
How do I calculate (as well as chosing gears size, motors) for our "rack and pinion" system?
Requirement: - the pinion will move the rack (gear will move the linear gear bar) 0.04 inches in y direction
Known:
- Forces:
Axial Force (object weight): 2000 lbf [includes SAFETY FACTOR (SF) = 1.5 to 2]
Transverse Force: 400 lbf, both normal and tangential [includes SF = 1.5 to 2]
- Speeds:
Transverse: 4 to 10 in. per min. (IPM)
push down speed: 0.2 to 6.0 IPM
- Energy:
Electrical Supply: 220 VAC and 30 amps coming out of the wall socket

Have a great day !!!!!!!!! I need it ASAP :):):):):)
