Hi guys. I am looking for a 3axis mill that I can make molds to create 1/10th scale car/truck models. Most explicitly stuff like these 1/10th scale RC rock crawlers. I'd love to find a unit that can handle 18x8x6 or so dimensions but if there is a way using a jig etc to simply make a mold of those dimensions that would be fine.
This is what set me off reading. I thought I wanted a 3d printer but now I am convinced its worth the money to get a mill instead. http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/gcnc/
Materials wise I would like to be able to work aluminum but don't see steel or harder materials as a priority.
I'd prefer to spend around 3k but could go higher or lower as needed
This is the type of thing I want to make end result. In this case the cab and bed are two pieces, and the grill etc details are another piece.
