The item that I pruchased is the WUS110-Econo Laser Wood-Natural 1/8". The actual thickness of the two pieces that I purchased is roughly 3.04 to 3.06 mm. I have a problem with the term "wood". It seems to actually be some kind of fiber that is bonded together under pressure. Something like MDF but much softer. It cuts very well with less power than 3mm birch plywood. I attempted to spray the material with polyurethane and it just absorbs into the material making it darker in color. It spray painted well, however. Engraving came out nice, but when I sprayed it with the polyurethane the material became dark enough to almost make the engraving hard to see. It is not sandable in its purchased form..much as MDF acts when sanded. It just 'fuzzes' up. Would i pruchase more of this material? Perhaps, but it would be for some specific use only, not for everyday use. It is not wood as I know it. They do sell the same product with veneer in place, but one would still have the problem of dealing with the uncovered edges. The above is just my opinion, if someone else has purchased this product and has ways of dealing with its properties, please post.
