We are a packaging company. Most of our PE (polyethylene) foam is die-cut. However, when we need to cut a curve or a vertical angle we need to cut by hand. (We cannot source good quality curved die-cut tools and of course the die cut machine can't do the vertical angle).
We have looked at waterjets but our customers do not want to see water anywhere near their packaging so this is not an option.
We need 5 axis and it needs to cut at 10m/minute minimum.
Our concern is that a router may be too slow. An alternative may be an oscillating knife but can they work with a 5 axis?
Another option: CNC with auto tool changer. Start with a knife and finish angles with router?
Also need to cut EVA foam.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
