ELAU servomotor encoder programming

Some of ELAU SM servo motors utilize SICK STEGMANN encoders of type SRM50. My SM motor had a defective SRM50 and I bought a new one from SICK. I assume new encoders are always data-free and need to be programmed according to defective or other healthy encoders which already is working in factory line. So I looked for programming tool of SICK for SRM50 encoders and of course SOPAS ET software. But more I tried to program the new one, more I disappointed, because the HEX file of the new one never match the old one, and doesn't recognize in ElAU SERCOS topology (along with C400 controller and MC-4). (The topology is complete because other ELAU SM motors recognizable.) Any idea? Could it be done just by ELAU Auto-Tuning?

Regards
Badil

P.S. In programming the new encoders, I export the *.sdv file from old or healthy encoder and then importing it to the new one.

Recommendations for CNC controller board upgrade

Guys, I have one of those cheap 3018 CNC engraving machines, which frankly is way better that I ever expected it to be for the price. However the one recurring issue I have with it concerns the buggy CNC controller, which is a 'Woodpecker' type of unknown pedigree that came with the engraver.

Since day one it has given niggling issues, I use it with Universal Gcode sender and as an example of the problems, every time I make an adjustment to the Z height, I have to restart UGS, recycle power to the CNC board, then reconnect the board, click on 'UNLOCK', click on 'RESET ZERO', reopen the file I was trying to engrave, click start, cancel an error message, then cancel another error message, and finally press start. I have to do this every time I make any height adjustment, or if I want to open a new file. I put up with it because it was something that I got used to.It also does not seem to allow spindle speed control, and for some reason won't work with drilling cycles generated by CadBam and doesn't seem to support self levelling, although I suspect that the latter two issues are as much with UGS as the board

Just lately though, in the middle of engraving, it loses Z position and starts to feed into the workpiece. I've ruined a number of jobs because of this, not fun when you spent five or six hours on a job and have it screwed up on the last operation.

So, what I would like are some recommendations from people who have purchased a controller board, preferably that comes with all the correct cables for the stepper motors, a motor power supply and any other bits and pieces like cable sheaths and end stop cables.

Any ideas ladies and gents?

Thanks for any help!

Need Help! Mach3 not recognizing Xbox360 controller

$

Please help if you can. I have finally managed to get the xbox360 plugin to work, but Mach3 is still not recognizing my controller. Windows does recognize it and i was able to manage other tasks within windows with the controller, so i know that the controller(xbox 360) is fine.
My questions

When Opening the config under config plug ins (inside Mach3),
the vendor and product id, both shows 0x0000.
The box that says controller(right next to it) has 2 options (found or none)
"none" is checked and the box is greyd out, so i cannot make changes.
I assume it is something to do with the product and vendor Id.
Can anyone help? Where do i locate the product and Vendor Id?

Thank you very much in advance for any help or assistance

FAGOR 8025 M Error code 094: Parity T, G53 - G59

Hi All,
I'm new to this forum, and i have no previous experience with CNC controller in particolar with Fagor.
I've bought a small CNC machine with this control; When i power up the machine, on the self test appear : Error code 094: Parity T, G53 - G59
This is not a blocking error, but i'm unable to understand this error.
I've also read the manual, but i don't understand what mean : Parity error in tool table or zero offset table G53-G59. The CNC resets the serial line RS232C machine
parameters: "P0= 9600", "P1=8", P2=0", "P3=1", "P607(3)=1", "P607(4)=1", "P607(5)=1".
Serial Line problem?
This is the picture of the machine.
Thanks a lot.

Lathe Advice

Hi Forum,

I need some advice. I’m a new gunsmith starting out and I’m looking for a lathe to turn barrels. I’d prefer a CNC lathe for better control, stock diameter won’t be larger than 1.5” and 30” in length. I’ve watched videos and read forums and there’s so much advice out there it’s hard to determine what’s real and what’s BS. Basically, I want to accurately and repeatably turn barrel threads and ream chambers rather than keep paying someone else to do it for me. I don’t have a budget just yet because I don’t know what I need or what suggestions the group may have. I want to go as inexpensive as possible, but I also want to have a quality finished product that is repeatable.

So, I’m looking for you people in the know to school me on what good options are, how much I should expect to have to spend and what experience anyone may have in this area...

Thanks in advance!

Milltronics - Glentek GA370-3

Hello,
I am new to this forum and have researched this problem but can't find an answer, hopefully someone can help, I purchased an old Partner 0W4 mill with Centurion 1 ver 3.93 for my hobby workshop, I have it up and running apart from the Y drive not working, I found the Y drives Glentek card had a burnt out J5 connector, replaced the connector and still no drive, I then swapped the X and Y cards and found the problem moved to the X drive. I am not getting any error codes at this stage.
After searching for another card which seem to be non existent in Aus I found one on ebay in the States and purchased, when the card arrived I plugged it in and still no drive but now I had an error code "ERROR 449: Emergency stop: Axis drive fault. Reset servo drives or power down". A bit disappointed I contacted the seller in the US explained the situation and asked if the drive was definitely a good unit and if he knew of any checks that I could do, he didn't know of any checks but kindly offered to send me another unit to try at his expense, two weeks later another drive arrived but unfortunately it brings up the same error and doesn't work.
The drives look exactly the same and they have the same part numbers except my drive has "High Frequency" written on the part number sticker where both the replacement units do not, I guess after all that my question is does anyone know whether the high frequency part will make a difference or not as I can't find any information on this particular subject.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

advice for newbie

we are a very small cabinet shop but for some reason do a lot of jobs outside our means. I would like to build a cnc to help with the cut out (currently it is all on a powermatic 66 and a minimax slider). Our needs are pretty basic. We cut out panels to edgeband, which receive a 9/32 groove for the back, a line bore of 5mm holes for shelves, a pilot hole for hinges and drawer guides, and dowels or screw holes for assembly. We also cut some curves for reception counter walls.

Let's put us in the minimal category for tech, but many friends that have some knowledge. We have looked at cncrp for kits, but are at a quagmire as to accomplish what we need. I believe the 9/32 grove could be done with the 5 mm boring bit, but then there is the small pilot hole for hinges and guides. Is it not cost effective to add a second head for the pilot holes or is there a better plan.

The other part that baffles me is the vacuum table. The program for cabinet design we use, in the panel optimizer cuts a lot of small parts out (by small rarely smaller than 3/4" x 4" x 9"). I was told the vacuum will suck down right through the mdf and hold a whole sheet down..To me that is crazy. our material size is mostly 49 x 97.

So not wanting to stray to far, do we buy a kit, make our own or go some other direction? Also, not sure it will be helpful but our grandson is on the robotics team at his high school. Sorry if the questions seems rather stupid. Thanks, Don
