New Here CNC Rookie - Having Accuracy Issues with increased speed

$

We are a sign shop and purchased our first cnc machine from china to save money and get our feet wet.

The machine is a 5' x 10' 4 axis machine with a 12hp HSD ES951 Spindle and a Syntec 21MA Controller. Using V-carve software.

We are mainly cutting 3/4" melamine currently. I'm using a 1/4" compression bit with a single pass at 20,000 rpm and have no issues with it cutting. The accuracy issues is the small area clears in the job at 1/4" deep that are 3/4"x 2" in size. In order to get an accurate cut I am at 120 ipm which seems to be extremely slow. There was some play in the X and Y gear mesh which is now gone but I still have issues.

Any help to point me in the right direction would be great.

Thanks,
Tim

Biesse rover failed communication with inverter (undidrive)

During the time I bought the machine they told me that the inverter was only replaced by the Unidrive SP 2402 with a module card SN application. I also think that a physical connection has been made with this Unidrive via the serial port. (cable and connection to see on the photos). This has always worked well until last week I reported the error message

Error 395: the inverter has not received the command sent to it; try again.

Error 396: dialogue protocol with the inverter failed.

the inverter showed that he did not find a module and therefore could not send out communication.

After several contacts with unidrive (Nidec Belgium) they think there is the exit of slot 3 on the undidrive piece and we have moved on and have the module plugged into slot two. Now the inverter no longer gives an error message and is always ready. So problem solved with the unidrive. Only now do they think there because we plugged the module into slot 2 that the inverter can no longer communicate with the xnc.

What does the machine do because I have not told you yet.

I read and start a program and the machine goes to its position, it switches from a milling machine (if necessary) and it goes down but does not start milling (error 395, 396). This is also the way I want to start drilling.

According to Unidrive (Nidec), there is a number of information on the module that will regulate the speed of the engine and tell you which engine (milling motor-drill motor) should start running and how fast. If Unidrive could have the Bin files, it could also create a new module card.

Ive been running my machine (Z.Bavelloni) for over 4 years now,

I would like to move on to a machine more modern

I went for a job interview yesterday and the machine is an Intermac running iCam
The position is exactly the same as mine, but I am not confident enought to say I can do it

I would like to try some 3d software that is similar to iCam, as i want to be 100% sure i can do the job before I say I can

(Preferably a free program)

Thanks in advance,

Ben

hi,

in the middle of converting my benchtop mill to cnc, i have done the ball screws, but i could do with some tips on belts and pulleys. what size pulleys would be ideal? am i right in thinking that having a larger pulley on the ball screw, instead of the motor at say 2:1 is ok? any good places to buy them from around melbourne? or aus? or overseas?

sorry if this has been covered before

thanks neil

X axis

I have a CNC Roctech Router machine. For operating the machine I use Richauto controller DSP A11.
Recently I have some problems with the machine. It does not work properly on X axis. I exchanged the servo motor on X axis and all the cables, but it did not solve the problem.
The distortion on X axes occurs whenever the machine is performing any programe. When I move machine on x axes only with DSP conrtoller, and when I press green button (origin) the machine comes to 0 accuratelly, and the screen says 0.

Esprit Cam Vise

Hello,

Is it possible to insert a functional vise in Esprit Cam? For instance, if I declare my stock as 30x100x100, i want to be able to open my vise and insert my stock there.
I have seen some videos where there was a vise inserted but it didn't show how.

Also, it would be interesting to use this vise as a template.

Thank you.

Need Help! GDZ-80-2.2B weird noise on lower RPM

$

Hello,
Just got my first spindle GDZ-80-2.2B with HY02D223B VFD but I have a problem: the spindle makes high pitch squeaking noise that’s probably not normal. ?It starts ~2-3k RPM and is cut off ~10k RPM

Tried reseting the config with PD013 = 8 and changed:
PD005 = 400 max operating frequency (Hz)
PD004 = 400 base frequency (Hz)
PD003 = 400 main frequency (Hz)
PD011 = 0 frequency lower limit (Hz)
PD070 = 1 sets Analog in type 0-5v (I’m planning to use it with GRBL)
PD072 = 400 higher analog frequency (Hz)
PD073 = 0 lower analog frequency (Hz)
PD143 = 2 number of poles in motor

But it's still the same.

Resistance between pins 1-2-3 is 1.71 ohm (measured from VFD side) and pin 4 seems to be connected as i'm getting continuity between it and spindle body.

Cable is YSLCY-JZ 4g1,5 ~5m long

Is the spindle faulty or I have to tweak some settings (which)?

Thanks

Tool changer Slot assignment

My 4020 has a 21 tool changer on it, but my tool table allows 99 tools.

What if I have a job that uses a group of tools 28-35, can I assign any number to the tc slot such as saying this is slot 28 and let it increment from there?

My other machine lets me assign any tool in any slot, and it remembers it, but I have a feeling the Fadal is sequential only, which is still okay if it allows you to set the slot number besides 1.

Next, what if I want my 3D taster to be a non mounted tool, and I call it tool 99.
Can I do that and just use MDI for setting the G43 H99 ? I don't want to use up a usable 1-21 tool number for it.

Z driver problem

I repaired the X and Y drivers that the connectors and plugs had burned the contacts, at that time the Z looked fine (about 1 year ago), didnt look as good yesterday, I need to find a plug and connector more appropriate, this fix works but doesnt look very good................ The only damage was a broken drill, a scurfed part, and a divoted soft jaw.......... No divots or holes in the vise or table- thats a good thing!

Moral to the story, if there is a noise thats not normal, hit the red button immediately, dont wait to see what happens as it wont be pretty!l

Partner 1D. Removing X & Y Belts and pulleys.

I'm going through and cleaning up the machine. Also wanting to remove and replace the X & Y axis belts and pulleys. The old belts I cut off. The X axis motor is mounted on slots with four Allen head screws. Easy enough. The y-axis though, does not seem to want to be adjusted in the same manner. How do I adjust the y-axis motor to install the new belt?

Also, the pulleys seem to be mounted the same way. But I don't see how they come off, any help here?

Researching purchase of 4x8 (aka 1325) CNC router. Help!

Hello CNC experts,

My brother has decided to welcome a new machine to his woodworking shop and I've been recruited to help him find one (he was using a Shapeoko XXL so far).

I've had good experience importing from China (and it's really the only option based on our location) so looking into getting a Chinese machine.

Here's what we're looking for:

  1. 1300x2500 mm, Z >= 200 mm
  2. ATC, 8 tools at least
  3. rotary axis, diameter >= 200 mm
  4. vacuum table (seems standard with machine this size)

I started by going to alibaba.com and messaged about a dozen manufacturers. Here's what I learned so far:

  1. spindle choice: the "high end" one seems to be a 9kW HSD spindle. The standard is usually a Chinese one called HQD, starts at 4.5kW with option to upgrade. I'm not sure on the exact price difference between the two, but it's in low thousands of dollars I think. Most of the work the machine will be doing is going to be with wood, with some soft metals here and there. Is HSD the way to go?
  2. the ISO30 tool holders provided are always locally made in China. I was told it's about $20 a piece. This seemed exceptionally low compared to prices I see online. Is this a concern?
  3. inverter/VFD choice: there's a Chinese one and other European brands, such as Rexroth. How do I decide if I need to upgrade?
  4. vacuum pump: same inverter, can choose between Chinese or Becker. How do I decide?
  5. control software: seems like the popular ones are Syntec and NK105-G3. Not sure which one is more popular. Syntec seems to have a lot of tutorials on youtube. Anything to steer me one way or the other?
  6. motors: trying to decide between Panasonic and Yaskawa. Both seem to be 850w per motor and roughly the same price. Any reason to choose one over the other?
  7. ATC: there are linear and rotary ones. Linear are fixed to the machine structure so the machine travels all the way back to do a tool swap. With rotary they're fixed to the gantry so less travel time. If I'm not concerned with the lost time on tool changes, what else do I need to consider when choosing between the two?
  8. machine accuracy: numbers here vary. Some say +-0.05 mm. Others go as low as +-0.02 mm. How reliable are these numbers? Can we expect the machine to be usable for precise, small parts? We're sick of bearings not fitting in holes we cut on our other machines. :-)
  9. transmission: the parts here all seem to be similar between manufactures. I'm usually seeing "high precision Germany helical" for the gear rack, Taiwan TBI ball screw for the Z and Taiwan Hiwin rails. For the rails, some offer 25 mm, others 30 mm. Anything to look out for here or are all of these pretty much similar?

These are the open issues I have so far. Would love it if someone would help clear some of these out.

As far as offers I've gotten: with these requirements the lowest ones I'm seeing for FOB shipping are in the $15k range with the HSD spindle, inverter/pump China made. Highest one I've gotten is $22k.

It's sometimes hard to know where the price difference is coming from since they all look the same on paper. Do these numbers make sense? We expect the machine to serve us at least 10 years (taking good care of it obviously).

Curious if someone with a acramatic 2100 control would be willing to film the basics of setting up the control. Things like fixture offsets, setting up tools, loading a program? This control is very daunting and I along with new users could greatly benefit from a video. I'm willing to pay.

and just upload the video to YouTube.

Hi all,

Do's any body know if the 8000 rpm spindle is direct drive or gear or belt driven on this machine?

Along with that, anybody know what the torque curve is on that spindle.

Thanks

Need Help! Masterwood Parametric Programming

I want to convert some programs from my Biesse to Masterwood.

The G code seems easy to convert but have no documentation with the Masterwoods machine on variables, variable looping and operators/ functions(i.e.. rounding numbers to a whole, square root, sine, cosine etc)

looking on the web for help I believe variables on the Masterwood look something like this:-

#1=10
#2=200/#1

therefore:-

#2=20

Any help would be appreciated.:drowning:

DesignEdge ONLINE Training - Limited Time Offer

For a limited time, I am offering FREE online training on how to use DesignEdge software. The current version is 4.47, but older versions still work well.

PlasmaCam put the kibosh on using Team Viewer, which was absolutely fantastic for training purposes, but I have found another way to train that does not anger the PlasmaCam gods.

It requires NO software download. Only a plug in to your Google CHROME browser.

If you are interested in helping me to TEST this option, I will work with you to help you learn DesignEdge while I simultaneously test the online bi-directional screen sharing capability. You should have a headset, or a mic, and speakers or headphones for verbal communication. Plan on at least an hour or more when our session begins.

Contact me to set up a time for testing and training. Have a Google account, and Google CHROME browser on your PC where DesignEdge is installed. The PC will need Internet access too.

This can host four "student computers" simultaneously, so one or more friends can join you.
