Parting out a 6T Control

I recently had a ROM issue with my 6T controller. Fanuc couldn't help me and the machine builder wanted more than I paid for the machine to burn a couple new EPROMS.

I plan to retrofit a new control- I'll be keeping the DC servos...everything else can go. If you need any parts, send me a message.


Not sure if this should be a classified ad but I figured this is the best place for it to be.

I am looking to adapt a CNC router into a fabric cutter. I need a wider table (150 cm) than most but will have very little cutting resistance.

All things regarding I am planing to adapt an existing DIY-kit to fit my needs. I would like to source the materials within the European Union.

What are your thoughts on Raw CNC 1.5 VS the OpenBuilds WorkBee by Ooznest? To me they look pretty similar but I guess there are a few advantages and weaknesses with each build? Is there any other system in this price range I should consider? (Keep my wide table in mind). I have considered the ShapeOko as well but get the impression that it is less sturdy than the two above?

box ways for pcb mill z axis

I was just reading the build thread for the swiss mak and noticed he is using box ways with a polymer insert. I've been considering taking my spare parts from my previous machine builds and building a dedicated pcb mill. Wondering what people think of using this type (delrin/hdpa on aluminum) of box ways for this application and how best to keep the grit out of them? I may just do the box ways for the Z axis since I only need about an inch of travel. i have some sbr12 rails I can use for the other axis.

My machine build is likely going to have the following:

200x200x30 or 200x150x30 working area in x,y,z

500 w brushless spindle with crappy deep groove ball bearings, seems to mill a pcb ok.

nema17 motors and 2gt belts 0.9 degree and 27 oz/in. I also have 3 nema 23 200oz/in motors I can use if the nema 17 motors are too wimpy.

Working on a Femco BMC 110 R with Fanuc 18-M control. The actual spindle speed doesn't show up on the lower left corner of the display .
Battery failed so not sure if I missed a parameter when reinstalling ( no parameter backup ) Could some one point me in the right direction for the parameter number ? Or what I missed.

I am building a 4/8 CNC router. My gantry beam is a 65 inch length of 3x4x.125 steel tube. I am using the CNCrouterparts linear rail so I have bolted and epoxied a length of 4x.250 CRS place to the 3 inch wide side which is the vertical axis. I am beginning to think that this tube, even with the .250 CRS plate glued to one side may not resist twisting as well as I had hoped.
I am hoping to put a 2.2kw spindle on it.
So I have two questions.
Is this beam strong enough?
If not, would welding a length of 2.5x2.5x.375 steel angle across the rear vertical surface fix the issue?

Poor mans Haimer. 3D probe from a coaxial indicator

Hello all, about a year ago I Had an impromptu attempt at converting a cheep coaxial Ebay probe into a Haimer style probe. The result was outstanding, quite easy to build, light probe force and repeatable.

If there was interest I could dismantle the probe and do a more detailed build, I have avoided a dismantle because this one is set up spot on and I think I should leave it alone.IMG_8105.jpg

If you like the idea please share, a 3d probe is now within everybody's reach for the price of a tank of fuel.

Autodesk HSM post-procesor DOOSAN PUMA V550

Hello, I'm starting to create programs in the HSM for DOOSAN PUMA V550 Fanuc 32i- MODEL A without the Y axis. I'm using the postprocessor to generate the program: https://cam.autodesk.com/posts/downl...l-turn%20fanuc
All required so far, only when I am milling in the "X-" axis does not rotate the C axis by 180 degrees but program want to milling in "X-" where the machine comes to the limit switch.
I want to ask whether the post-processor can be edited so that values marked with red have positive "X+" and C would be automatically added to 180 degrees.

In search of software for lab volt festo diactic cnc mill or lathe

I came up with this solution to mill the saddle on my CNC conversion. worked out better than i thought. no flying tools or work!

cross feed table is made out of 3/4" and 1/2" baltic birch plywood. glued and screwed. tried to match the ways to the machine at 30 degrees. used the original y lead screw anb fab'd quick n dirty x.

i think it held about a .0005" ;)

Due to the different physical characteristics of lasers, co2 laser cutting machine and fiber laser cutting machine have different processes. That is to say that both they all have their own strengths and weaknesses, and its own advantages and disadvantages depending on the processing objects.

Defination

The co2 laser cutting machine generally drives the laser tube to emit light by laser power. The light is transmitted to the laser head through the refraction of several mirrors, and concentrated into a point by the focusing mirror mounted on the laser head. The processing material is thus sublimated into a gas for the point with a very high temperature, which is sucked away by the suction fan, thus achieving the purpose of cutting.



A fiber laser cutting machine is a laser cutter that takes a fiber laser generator as a light source. Fiber laser is a new type of fiber laser that is newly developed in the world. It outputs a high-energy-density laser beam and accumulates on the surface of the workpiece, so that the area of the workpiece is illuminated and instantly melted and vaporized by the ultra-fine focus spot. Automatic cutting is realized through moving the spot illumination position through a numerical control mechanical system, which is high speed and high precision.



Applicable industry



There are mainly two conditions which is suitable for co2 laser cutting machine. On the one hand, this is the special parts that require uniform cutting including stainless steel with a thickness within 3mm and non-metallic materials with a thickness of within 20mm for service industries like advertising and decoration On the other hand, there is also a machining of a workpiece with a complicated cutting profile but a small amount. And which is used to save on the cost and cycle of manufacturing the mold.

Comparison of advantages between fiber laser cutting machine and co2 laser cutting machine



1.Contrast from the structure of the laser device



In co2 laser cutting machine technology, carbon dioxide gas is a medium that generates a laser beam. However, fiber lasers are transmitted through diodes and fiber optic cables. The fiber laser system generates a laser beam by pumping multiple diodes and then transmits it to the laser cutting head through a flexible fiber optic cable instead of through a mirror, which have many advantages. Firstly, it is the size of the cutting table. In the gas laser technology, the mirror must be set within a certain distance. There is no limit to the range for the fiber laser technology. And even the fiber laser can be installed next to the plasma cutting head of the plasma cutting bed. co2 laser cutting machine technology does not have this option. Also, the system is more compact due to the ability of the fiber to bend when compared to a gas cutting system of the same power.



2.Contrast from the conversion efficiency of electro-optical light



The most important and significant advantage of fiber-cutting technology should be its energy efficiency. With fiber laser complete solid-state digital modules and a single design, fiber laser cutting machine systems have electro-optical conversion efficiencies higher than carbon dioxide laser cutting by virtue of the fiber laser cutting machine’complete solid-state digital modules and a single design. For each power unit of a carbon dioxide cutting system, the actual general utilization is about 8% to 10%. For fiber laser cutting machine systems, users can expect higher power efficiency, between 25% and 30%. In other words, the fiber-optic cutting system consumes about three to five times less energy than the carbon dioxide cutting system, resulting in an increase in energy efficiency of greater than 86%.



3.Compare from cutting effect

A more concentrated beam produces a smaller focus and a deeper depth of focus, so that fiber laser cutting machinecan quickly cut thinner materials and medium thickness materials more efficiently. When cutting materials up to 6mm thick, the cutting speed of a 1.5kW fiber laser cutting system is equivalent to the cutting speed of a 3kW co2 laser cutting machine system. Since the operating cost of fiber cutting is lower than the cost of a conventional carbon dioxide cutting system, this can be understood as an increase in output and a decrease in commercial cost.



4.Contrast from maintenance costs

For example, CO2 laser systems require regular maintenance; mirrors require maintenance and calibration, and the resonators require regular maintenance. However, fiber laser cutting machine solutions require almost no maintenance. co2 laser cutting machine systems require carbon dioxide as a laser gas. Therefore it should be cleaned regular due to the purity of carbon dioxide gas, the cavity is polluted. For a 1000W CO2 system, this item requires at least $20,000 per year. In addition, many carbon dioxide cuts require high-speed axial turbines to deliver laser gas, while turbines require maintenance and refurbishment.

D&M 5 CNC Lathe meets Centroid Acorn, but can i control the spindle?

Hi Folks,

Not many threads on this topic, and not for a long time. Maybe someone can lend me some wisdom.

I recently purchased an old D&M 5 CNC Lathe.

I converted it to run Arduino Due flavoured TinyG, with the origional stepped drivers, and was pretty dissatisfied.

So I converted it to Centroid Acorn, with TB6600 Steppers and it's working significantly better.

I am trying to figure out if I can control the existing DC spindle motor driver which has a 0-10V input, with the Acorn 0-10V Output.

The question I have is of DC common isolation, is it safe to connect the acorn to the dc drive?

Happy to discuss and share what I know so far.

Been asked to sort out a job on this vmc which I've never programmed before and currently use a Fanuc 0iMD


On the fanuc I put subs embedded in the parent code (needs a param change 6005?) and find this much neater/easier to manage, can you do this with the Brother? the current prog has about 10 subs which need a lot of tidying up

EN24 817M40 4340 ASTM A29 tough stock with a rough finish


What would you recommend, indexable tips or carbide? this is the part I need to machine, by the 100s:





6mm (0.236) thick from 8mm (0.315) stock, faced both sides


mid recess has a 3mm (0.118) rad


currently using tips but they bang alot on this tough material like it needs a keener edge, probably have stay with tips for the facing - 45mm (1.770) wide cut but thinking about carbides for the sides and recess?
