EZ Path ethernet issue

hey guys. I tried to network my 95 EZ path 1 with an Ethernet cable off the SBC to the computer. I figured the worst thing that could happen is that the computer wouldn't recognize the lathe. Welp, I was really really wrong. When I started the machine and tried to home it, the machine immediately went into rapid and hit the hard stops on the X axis in the opposite direction of normal and then proceeded to also rapid on the Z towards my spindle. I caught it before it crashed, but i still cant get this to clear up. I went into the tuner page and tried to jog the axis that way, but i cant power on the servos without it doing the rapid movements. doesn't matter what position the cross slide or carriage are in, it always rapids as soon as i turn the servos on regardless of what screen I'm on. i have tried reseating the SBC, powering off the machine and letting it sit, and checking the errors (none that i could find), and i have no direction to go from here. any help you guys have would be greatly appreciated. -Kent

Fried drives?

Hey guys while trying to figure out my spindle drive I may have accidentally fed high voltage to the step and direction terminals of my drives. Prior to this the drives worked fine. Now I get no movement or only movement in one direction. The drives are Vexta udx5114a. Can anyone tell me how to test the optocouplers or tell me what I could have fried? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Build Thread Chinese 6040 stepper needs replacement and how far can I go with possible mods

Purchased a 6040z Chinese CNC in 2016 to teach myself the ropes of baisc CNC craft. Two years later, I feel much more confident and skilled but the learning experience took its toll on Y stepper with the Z starting to follow. I could go with the same size but was wondering if I could stretch its legs a bit and go slightly more powerful steppers without having to perform significant upgrades to the controller.

Below are the specs for what I currently have and what I would like to replace. However, I'm still a newbie when talking parts so I would like some guidance. I am willing to gut the controller if needed but hoping to keep the repair costs down so I can continue to learn.

Current:
FRAME: 57BYGH76/4A1.8N.m (aka Nema23)
LENGTH: 76 mm
A/PHASE: 3A
TORQUE: 1.89N.m (270 oz-in)
LEADS: 4
.

Proposed:
FRAME: Nema23
Length: 115 mm
A/PHASE: 3A
TORQUE: 425 oz-in

I can provide other specs from the controller if required

Need Help! powtran i9000 settings to control 3 phase motor speed

$

Hi,
I have a 2.2kw 240v single phase in, and 240v 3 phase out Powtran Pi9000 vfd, and also an ESS smoothstepper board, the problem I have is I want to control the speed of the 3phase motor on my lathe with mach4 using the M3 and S command.

What I have done so far is use the 10v analog output on the ESS board to the vfd, when I type different speeds into the MDI screen on Mach and run it the voltage changes going into the vfd, I can change anywhere fron 0v to 9.8v depending in the speed setting, so I know that the input from mach to the ESS board is working and from the ESS to the vfd is ok.

I have the vfd set to terminal input instead of control panel and also the have the A13 analog input on the terminal board set as voltage input, when I try to get the motor to work with the different speed settings in mach the motor will not start. I have read the manual but I can't figure it out,I guess I have to change more settings but I am not sure which one's.

If someone can help I would be very grateful.

Australia Pod & Rail 5 Axis CNC

Hello everyone,

Just wanting opinions on brands etc. I'm in the market for a small 5 Axis pod & Rail CNC. I have good experience with Biesse but they're an awful lot more expensive in comparison to other brands. I'm currently in contact with Biesse, SCM and Masterwood. Are there any other brands who you'd suggest? Anderson is another contender. Obviously Biesse and SCM have great CAD/CAM software to accompany their machines, not sure what Masterwood's equivalent is like but it's there!

While I'm here, any bright ideas as to what an RDM Parameter error on a Biesse Rover 24 would be? In relation to fixed saw blade.

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,

Jack

Need Help! No go on cycle start

Hi, All

I have a 96 BMC 4020 SSM I'm at a lose. It will not start a cycle the button blinks green but no go. I have control power and I can manually move all axes. turn on the flood and wash down but will not start a calibration cycle. On start up i had a CMOS error battery so I replaced it and this error is fixed now. I also check the power supply and the 24V power supply there with in spec. I have replaced the all relays on the I/R board too. I pined out all the cable between the control pendent and the cabinet so far no broken wires. I check the buttons ( power and cycle start) i have continuity thru both and switch them and both are seem to be good. I remover the PC hard drive an slaved it to one of the office computers i scanned it for viruses and defrag it and it checked out ok. The hard drive is only 3 years old. I reinstalled and fried up the mill and still have the same problem. Right before it quit work completely I was running a cycle and had some light chatter or vibration in milling. It shut down the control power which is not the first by any means. it will generate a I/R fault error. this has happened a lot in the past. So I have had too reset the servos 10 to 15 before the control power would return. Of course in the middle of a machining cycle. Most of the time I have to shut the main power down and restart the machine.

Any ides I'm open

I have also had these error once or twice before

1.) Servo Fault - I/R Fault a lot

2.) Spindle speed fault sense - not at commanded speed ATC error on selecter operation spindle fault - Orient error one time a year ago

2.) Could not access dual port ram on Matrix 4-XYZS Servo board 2 or 3 time a year or so ago

Powering up the machine

Just got my Partner 1 placed in the garage. I believe it to be 220v single phase. But how can I be sure?

I have a 220v outlet in my garage that i run my TIG welder from. It also powers my 5hp 3 phase converter to run my manual mills. I just need to be sure what power this machine needs.

UC300ETH BOB

What is up my dudes.

I'm building a milling machine were I would like to try out the UC300ETH. However I'm confused to which BOB I should use. The official -5LPT got a few ICs on it, but i don't know what it really does or what it is good for. The UB1 is crammed, but it doesn't seem to do much more than light some leds, convert some dc voltages and optically isolate. Which board should i use and why?

Need Help! RichAuto A11(S) - DSP fails to initiate

Hi. This is my first post on this site, so please excuse me if I'm not posting in the right place.

I have a Chinese machine (OMNI-CNC Jinan 1325) with RichAuto A11 DSP controller and a MACH3 controller (I've never run it from the Mach3 controller... wonder if that is part of the problem?!)

Everything has been running fine... until I switched off the power (mains) for about 3 weeks and when I came back, the machine powered up ok and the DSP lights up, but no menus... nothing.

I've tried unplugging DSP from controller, holding down the OK button for extended time (as suggested in another post on here). I can't seem to get it going ~at a loss for what to do.

Can anyone help out??

Thanks in advance!
