G0704 removing table endcaps

$

Hi guys, total newbie here who can't figure out how to remove the table end caps. I see that there are two cap screws easy to remove but there are these sunk in screws which I've tried unscrewing with Allen key wrenches. I've seen people online doing the conversion using tools with T-handles not sure if they were hex or torx

Thanks guys

Need Help! deckel maho DMG 635V

hello everyone ,

I recently bought deckel maho 635v from 2007 , control is siemens 840D

my question is this :

I have a tool , Iscar saw mill , diameter 125mm , by the inserts it runs at 165rpm ISCAR Cutting Tools - Metal Working Tools - SGSF : 2300956 - SGSF 125-5-32K
since it needs quite a bit of momentum to slide slot a piece of titanium grade 5 , maximum is 23Nm , i'm wondering if the machine has enough.
In the machine manual it says that i can set in setup mode rpm from 20 to 800 and than i get a lot more momentum , more than enough but i know that the machine doesn't have manual gears.
So my question is if anyone has this machine does it make a difference if i put 'M41' after start spindle as that puts the machine in 1 gear.. and according to the manual i should have about 54Nm at my disposal..

thank you all!!!

Looking for Mentors Help needed with spindle control by Mach 3

Currently I can only control on off and speed control of the spindle by using a minimum in the pulley setup say 6000 this seems to work ok but without that setting I have to enter the number in the spindle speed box at the ALT ! or Alt 2 this is unpredictable some times it lets me enter a minimum some times not (I have been unable to determine what causes success or failure) putting a minimum speed in the pulley setup screen works fine and the setting holds from start up without fail which is not the case when using the ALT 1 or 2 screens.

I worry because Not one video on youtube or manual for the spindle breakout board or Mach 3 suggests this option

any help welcome

Need Help! Spindle drive bearings

Howdy all,

I'm going trough the belt drive conversion and I have few questions...

Would you consider using tapered roller bearings for spindle drive sleeve? I've got my setup almost completed and then I realised that the tapered rollers that I've acquired would probably need frequent lubrication as there are no provisions to keep the grease trapped within the bearings...

Would this type of bearing be NO-NO for this location? What are your thoughts on this bearing position?

My goal is to reach 6000 rpm with the machine. The tapered rollers are rated to 8000 rpm. I have not found any AC bearings in adequate size for the mentioned position, but I could grab some 6008 2ZR deep groove bearings if your convince me that tapered rollers are not a good idea.

Hey, feel free to tell me what would you do if you were converting the machine.

Cheers
Zeljko

Lathe ATC not on height - how do pro's fix this?

Hi all,

Recently received my 330x700 lathe with a 6 station ATC. The ATC is designed to take 16x16mm tools

Installed my the tools I ordered a while ago for my manual lathe to get me started and found that the tools were very low on the centre. So ok, problem I thought I could shim. Unfortunately nope...The top of the ATC slot, which is fixed, is too low.

I could skim down my lathe tools but that does not feel right.

I installed a 16x16mm parallel in the ATC and took a measurement to the centreline and the top of the parallel was 2.3mm lower than the spindle centre.

Queried this with the manufacturer and they came back saying I should buy tools that take support shims under the insert. Fair enough I thought, so I looked for a while and I see that shims only come in 1 or 2 thicknesses.

So as I understand it, the cutting edge of the indexable lathe tools should be at the same height of the shank right?

Do I need to pack the ATC up by 2.3mm?

Unlike manual machine QTC's you can't adjust each tool using a knurled nut, hence I am asking for opinions from users with ATC's that know how indexable tools work.

Thanks in advance!

Omni 1350 Linear ATC Indexing problem on z axis problem

Hi
Looking for some help with the above, I have been away and come back to a problem with the tool changing.
Its breaking tool holder forks as the alignment on the x axis is out by approx 2 - 3mm, everything suggests that the machine has hit something but will never know, I do know it broke an 8mm tool, so something quite hefty.
I have tried adjusting using parameter 881 which adjusts the negative retract on the z but it isn't quite enough. Alternatively there must be a parameter which adjusts the distance to the first tool folder from x =0 or something similar but I cant find it.

Any advice as always would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

Need Help! Need Help related to "Pitch Error Compensation" of Fanuc Controller

$

Hi,

We currently have a turning machine with Fanuc 18Oi control. We have measured the positional error in the machine in each axis using laser interferometer. Now we want to do the pitch error compensation but the problem we are facing is that the pitch compensation table is not available in the controller. Pitch compensation parameters like 3620, 3621, 3622 etc are available in the controller but the pitch compensation table (which we normally access by pressing SYSTEM key followed by pressing next menu key and then followed by PITCH soft key) is not available.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciable.

Need Help! Stepper motor

Hi
I'm upgrading my laser cutter / etcher. I've installed a RDC644XG controller and Leadshine DM442 drivers. I'm having trouble controlling my original Smooth type 17HA507H-22P2
and 17HA507H-22A stepper motors. These are 0.9 degree motors, The instructions for the Leadshine drivers refer to 1.8 degree motors. Can anyone advise as to whether my best move
is to upgrade my stepper motors. I laser etch I'm not concerned with speed but with accuracy. If a better move is different drivers and motors I'd appreciate suggestions.
Having a reliable and accurate machine is my aim. Thanks

Gnome Panel, Another Path

I have used the left shift = Alt on startup method to get to the Gnome panel but it is a hit or miss proposition; annoying to say the least.

Today, I discovered an alternate method. When Path Pilot is shut down and you click on the OK button, immediately press and hold shift + alt. The Gnome panel appears.

No M4 macro for ShopSabreIS612 running on WinCNC

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to enable counter-clockwise rotation on my ShopSabre IS612. I have read through the SPIN.MAC and CNC.MAC files and it does not seem like rotation direction is built in into the subroutine. I have also gone the route of trying to change the rotation via the VFD (Mitsubishi A800). The VFD is largely unresponsive to most manual inputs. It is only when I apply a signal to the spindle that the VFD lights up the direction indicator. The Spindle idles at ~1600 RPM, and as such, I am leery of trying to change this setting during operation. Any help you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Just moved machine into shop a couple weeks ago. Was having some issues with tool change and home position. Machine came with low batteries and was getting alarm for that, think it was ATC battery alarm. Batteries finally arrived and I changed them out with power still on. Went to home machine and got Y and Z home alarms, went to partameter 1815 and 4bit was 0 instead of 1 on both of those. went thru procedure to change to 1 and was able to get all axis home. now on to do a tool change, was going fine until arm change and looks like Y is out about an inch or so. moved back arm and now getting a MILLING SPINDLE POSITION ERROR #2140. Can't find info on how to clear this now...

Need Help! NEW PRO CNCRP + 1.5 SPINDLE

$

Hello

I am hoping someone with one of the NEW Pro tables that uses a 1.5kw Chinese spindle can post some videos of their table milling aluminum. If you have this setup, it sure be helpful to see it in action. I am asking about the h20 1.5 because I bought one a couple of years ago and never used it.

FYI, I will be using my table primarily for wood but there are some other aluminum specific projects I will need to cut (w/ precision & w/ a nice finish).

Thanks

Hybrid stepper or servo system for uc300

$

Hi all,

I currently am running a uc300 usb with mach3 and I have open loop steppers. This was fine for a homemade small router I had built as a prototype but I am now building a new heavy duty frame to migrate all my hardware onto. As I'm upgrading the lightweight frame I am also going to upgrade the positional motors as the weight of the table being moved is now steel and considerably heavier. Prob around 120kg so it is going to be pretty rigid*

What my choices are is a closed loop stepper system or a servo system. But I am thinking of using UCCNC instead of mach3 as I've seen it gives better results. I've been looking at these drives and motors;

3HSS2208h-100 with 20Nm nema 42 motor
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2187432593

Also this servo configuration
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2411229621

My question is basically this, has anyone got any experience with these options and how do they perform. Also how would I go about if it's possible to have a fully closed loop system to uccnc. Is it possible with the uc300 usb?*

Or if anyone else has any options of better motors and drives to get? My budget is max around £1000.

Thanks,
Dave.

Problem Axis stutters when it hits location of tabs

$

i have a test file that is 10x10 square with tabs. While air cutting, the axis(s) stutters when it comes to the location where the tabs are located even though the z depth isn't at the tabs level yet. Through out the g code there are lines of code that are at the location of the tabs even though the z axis isn't at the tab level depth yet. If i run the file without tabs it's silky smooth. It's a really fine stutter but just enough to affect the cut quality. I've tried different post processors but the same result. My machine is a DIY build with chinese drivers etc. If i slow the cut speed down it doesn't stutter. Not sure why those lines of code are at the tab(s) point as they are not needed until the tabs are actually cut?
Maybe motor tuning?
Any help would be much appreciated!
