Hi fellow members,
One of my customers has a Morbidelli Author 500 thats having communication issues. The problem is he doesnt use it very often, after being off for around 6 months he used it once or twice and the next time he needed to use it Xilog3 would not communicate with the machine.
I know the battery is dead, but there seems to be a backup of the parameters in the PC. When I open NUM Tools Machine Manager I can see A500_4.MCH, SUB_PGM.MCH and SIMBOLI.LIB files on the left column of the application. Unfortunately, when I click on Transfer menu all the options are greyed out (PC > NC, NC > PC and Delete).
Another thing I noticed is that the red LED is on indicating an error on TSXFPP20 PCMCIA card. When I open XWAY Driver Manager and run XWAY Test FPC10 and UNITELWAY connects but the FPP20 gives an error Cannot open the driver!.
Hoping that Ive given enough information to shed some light on the issue at hand. Ive brought all listed components back to my workshop so I can try all your suggested remedies and reply back to this thread.
BTW Im not a CNC tech, just an IT tech and CNC enthusiast thats trying to help him.
Thank you in advance and hope to hear from you soon.
This is his setup.
Integrated PC thats running Win95. Xilog3 and NUM Tools
NUM controller is 1020W
SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC TELEMECANIQUE TSX FPC-10 card plugged into the PC
A long cable and a Schneider Automation TSXFPP20 FIPWAY PCMCIA card plugged into the NUM controller

I have owned this mill for almost 2 years and have just started my cnc conversion. Wanted from the start to use linear rails. Did not realize what I was getting in to. But this is my progress so far. 25 mm double ballnut and screws from hiwin. 20 mm hiwin rails for XY and Z. Hgr20cc heavy duty bearing blocks. I wanted to keep the integrity of the machine by leaving the dovetails intact so that the machine could be put back to a manual machine. I have the Y axis rails set up. I am eliminating the saddle and using a 3/4 inch piece of 6061 aluminum. Machined pockets on bottom and will add another 2 inch thick piece of 6061 on top of that to bolt the X axis bearings to and the Xaxis rails will go on the bottom of the table with aluminum spacers just like the Y axis. The Y axis is very smooth. Thish as taken me a while to do this so far because I only have the one machine I have to take the machine apart to measure and put machi e back together to machine and so on.

My Grandfather had something like this on his pushbike axles to keep them clean,
It's just leather shoelaces wrapped around the screw twice and close to the nut with a small weight hanging from them and in this case it's a 20mm nut. As you can see in the picture they do a great job and only need to be cleaned about once per year and oiled.
Do any of you out there have something similar? It's an old fix to a new problem. I've been using them for about 5 years now and they are still the same ones so should last a life time.
Richard.
PS. These would also work on the Z axis if you had a small bracket with a spring pulling to the side of the screw. Poor mans wiper seals that work a treat.

An air compressor with model: IV5076055 (From Industrial air USA) is at up front. I can't find information about HP on the manual for wiring purpose. The data at disposal is:
60 gallon Vertical
175 Max PSI
15.3 CFM @ 100 PSI
13.5 CFM @ 175 PSI
5.0 RHP
Any help/suggestions on wiring?

Hi guys, is there anyone currently out there that can make 6 off these parts? Either from 6061 or similar material. The OD is 63.19mm. Details on the features in the description can be provided if needed, just after a ballpark figure of what it would cost. Would it be any cheaper if I supplied the material. Thanks in advance.

Ok I have a stereo amp that is drawing between 3.5 -5.0 amps running 7 speakers totaling around 65 watts. I just tried a 12 volt 3amp 6800maH battery and it kept shutting down(battery had built in protection circuit.
So now I am looking at SLA batteries, mainly 12v 3aH battery as its dimensions fit in my speaker well. I will run two of these parallel. My problem is most of these SLA batteries do not show what the current draw is , so I am not sure if my amp will be drawing too much current or does that matter? if I am drawing 3.5 amps from a 3.5 aH battery does that give me roughly an hour to run?

I really need some help. I might have been able to figure this if I didn't have to go back and forth between metric and imperial measures.
I am trying to figure:
steps per mm = steps per rev * microsteps / mm per rev
My motor is nema 23 and 200 full steps per rev
I have a cnc=shield with jumpers set to 1/32 (I think) M0, M1 and M2 are high
Leadscrew is 5/16 -18
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everybody.
I have a centurion6 control with a 2 speedmotor yaskawa.
My problem is centurion6 doesn't shift to the 2nd speed when i command a speed over 1500rpm.
I was searching in my parameters and i didn't find:
-Shift Spindle on Fly Yes for newer M5 spindle drives with 2 gear spindle motors. The spindle does not need to stop to shift.
-Electronic Spindle Gear Yes enables the shifting of electronics geared spindle drives.
I think i don't have the good parameters?
Are you agree with me?
Thank you for your help.

I am looking for some links to help me understand the direction of manufacturing and automating feature recognition. I build low volume, high mix and need to process over 3000 custom CNC parts per shift. Tolerances are open and material is a nominal thickness and the feature work is standard (hole diameters and depth) however the location can change.
I am looking at parametric programming and linking programs to a predetermined part name and program name. The bill of operations can changed based on customer requirements and material. Zero, zero is always off the same stops.
Thank you,
Any suggestions are welcome

Hello everyone!
I've been reading this forum for a long time and finally am going to try my hand at converting a small CNC mill. I've decided on a PM-25MV, Arizonavideo's kit, LinuxCNC, ASRock Q1900B motherboard with built-in parallel port (Amazon has some old stock), and Keling motors and drivers from Automation Technologies.
My question has to do with the Keling drivers. I've narrowed the choices down to two packages from Automation Technologies. Both have Nema 23 570 oz/in motors for the X and Y axes, but one has a 906 oz/in motor for the Z axis and the other has a 1200 oz/in motor. I'm not sure how much difference this extra torque makes, but the more expensive package also has some upgraded "32 bit DSP based" drivers -- KL-8070D vs KL-8060 and KL-5056E vs KL-5056.
Does anyone know if the new drivers are actually better, or are the bugs still being worked out? Are they (plus a larger motor) worth an extra $110?

I got a Haunyang VFD 2.2kw water cooled spindle Kit with 220vac water pump, off EBay.
The pump came with a 2 prong plug, which is to my understanding is 220vac on one prong and ground on the other prong.
I think the type of plug is for UK power, 220vac one line. Can anyone comment on this type of plug and power?
I'm also concerned about the VFD it self, if the pump is UK is the VFD require the same UK power or can I hook 2- 120 lines to make it 220vac, UK power is 1 line 220.
Can anyone tell me the correct power that I can supply to the VFD.
I have pics of what I have.
Thanks

I am new to the forum. I just got my 1996 Bridgeport VMC760 22 under power. Every thing works but I do have a (spindle not up to speed in time) alarm. The spindle oscillates for about 5 sec. Any pointers would be great. I have no problem getting my hands dirty. Thanks

Hi :)
My 50w laser machine had been working perfectly until the power supply died, I have since bought 2 new power supply's and have 2 working tubes. The below is the results i get when engraving, cutting seems to be running perfect.
Chinese SH-350 50w laser machine
2 x tubes ( 85cm and 100cm ) and both power supply's that are working are 50W.
I have aligned mirrors, I've tried 2 lenses in case 1 had issues all with the same results, I've checked all belts and no settings had been changed on the software.
I'm out of ideas as to what might be causing this issue but it seems the laser isn't firing at the very start of each pass.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated :)
