I am wanting to upgrade to a Wireless Renishaw Probing System for my Haas Mini. Im looking at the OTS 1/2AA and OMP40.
How difficult is it and is it possible for this install to be done myself? Oviously the physical installation is no problem, but what about the software side of it? Are there options that only HAAS can unlock?
According to HAAS; WIPS is $5200 plus hotel, labor, etc, etc bringing the total to just under 7k. Of the $5200, when asked for a price breakdown because I may be able to supply the OTS and OMP40, I was told the following;
The WIPS comes with a Renishaw OTS 1/2AA tool probe and OMP-40 spindle
probe. When you order the WIPS option it includes the Macros, Rotation and
Scaling, and Spindle Orientation options for the probes to operate. These
options are as follows:
Macros $2395.00
Rot & Scal $1295.00
SO $895.00
$4585??? So now all of a sudden the whole Renishaw system is virtually free once the Macros, Rotation/Scaling, & Spindle is figured in? Well actually $615.00 . Something just doesnt sound right. Is this normal?
Can someone briefly describe how important Macros, Rotation and
Scaling, and Spindle Orientation are and what they actually do?
