Not specific to CNC router - more about screw-drive

Hi there ... first post.

So I'm getting into tinkering with some screw drive systems and I'm looking for either a part or a way to get this idea to work but I'm not sure how to find it and thought a picture would work best.

I want to tap a piece of aluminum and run some threaded rod through out and have that rod move another piece of aluminum forward and backward like the pic shows. I'm not sure how attach the rod to the second piece of aluminum though, so that it will spin freely while I rotate the rod. I thought maybe there was a bearing or something but I'm not really sure what I can get that will attach to the surface of the aluminum that will do what I want.

Does the question make sense? :)

To complicate things... Really the only tools I have are a table saw, chop saw, drill press, and cordless drill.

Thanks for any advice!
