I just started another thread about how to get the spindle out of the quill. Reason being, the top end of my spindle has gotten buggered up. The top of the spindle, and the bottom side of the drawbar "spacer" have both gotten chewed up, making it difficult to properly tighten the drawbar, due to excessive friction at this spindle/drawbar interface. Anyone have any suggestion as to how to clean up the top of the spindle? I don't have a lathe near big enough to handle it. I'm thinking maybe putting it on another mill, parallel to the table, and just take a few clean-up passes across the end.
Also, I've been plagued with "rattling" from the splines for the last year. I believe the fit between the splines on the spindle and the mating splines on the backgear pulley may be too loose, and I'm thinking about taking the pulley out and having it plated, to tighten up the fit a bit. Any other suggestions?
When I first got the machine, about 4 years ago, it was nice and quiet, but it started making noise about a year ago, and it's gotten steadily worse since, to the point it's near unbearable. I use the machine a LOT so I have to do something about it.

Ray L.
