DRO question..

I own a Smithy 1239 machine I use to make live steam engines and all kinds of misc parts.. It does not see a whole lot of use honestly, and I am looking into fitting a DRO on it and I just cannot justify the large cost of name brand ones. I found the following 2 resonable priced units searching the web.

2 Axis DRO MILL PACKAGE LINEAR GLASS SCALES NEW DIGITAL READOUT

I do realize this may not be up to the standards for most of the experienced machinists on this site, but I am using this for hobby stuff but I dont want to throw away my money, I have seen another unit available as well

Shooting Star Technology - CBX Features

for alot of my machining operations I have literally been using a dial caplier to measure movement, and have thought about fitting the digital caliper type dro's to the machine when I ran accross these and thought they might work better.. Whats your thoughts/experiences with these?

Thanks, Scott
