Replacing bearings/rails on a Y-axis

This is an X axis rail on a plasma machine. It has a Wisecarver V-Rail with 2 bearings on top, and 2 bearings on bottom. The bottom doesn't have any rail, they just roll along the bottom of the strip of metal showing. Both the gear rack and the V-Rail are bolted to this strip of metal. What are the odds of the metal becoming "worn out" or pitted, or in any way shape or form needing to be resurfaced/replaced? The v-rail top takes the weight, but the bottom is going to feel some force when the gantry stops or starts, to me.
