hi guys

i got myself a vmc 10 with 88hs control

so far so good. i spent time today reading everything i could find including the manual to try and understand the fixture and tool offsests.

the work i will be doing is pretty much one offs. i plan the have a set number of tools in the changer that will be always their and not come out.

it is using format 2.

i have currently set the tools up in the following way.

after reforming the cold start i select tool 1 as this is my master tool
i use a 50mm resetter onto a common location (table)
bring the tool down to read zero on the presetter and SETZ
the change to the next tool zero off to the presetter and then using the tool offsets page i enter offset and i get the difference between the 2 tools.
this way each tool is offset against the master tool.
then return the z to cs position by way of SETCS, HO

then when i need to set a work offset i locate x,y in the traditional manner and use the offsets page and 'jog to position' to update the x and y offsets and i bring the z down to the job with tool 1 in the spindle to the presetter on the top of the stock. zero off the presetter and note the -z value and the input this into the z fixture offset page.

does anyone see an issue with what i am currently doing?

also is there a way to get 'distance to go' and other info like actual spindle speed not just the programmed speed. seems like the program screen is a little light on for info.

also i ran a program in dry run and couldn't see how to get the rapids to be controlled by the feed override pot. could only see the standard dry run options that has rapids at 150inch/min or similiar.
i am used to rapids been able to be controlled by the feed override and quite like the feature.
