how accurate are the rod driven axis ?

I got a fe questiin, my cnc machine has the motors with a punion gears moving along a makerslot extrusions that have been fitted with teeth.
I did not realize this design is sort of unusual at least to me (im new to diy cnc). i see however that all the builds around use the threaded rods and i wonder on how much better it is. I am sure its also probably quieter and smoother?

where can u get some information on it works and its assembly ?
