I'm curious about the Single Profile Thread Mills. Some of them are advertised for cutting a particular thread, such as 1/2"-20, etc, while others are listed for a range of threads. The ones the are said to cut a number of threads also vary a lot, some are listed for only a few threads, such as 8 to 16, while other cover a larger spread, like 8 to 32.
My question is what the differences are, I imagine the ones that cut multiples are compromising the thread in some manner, while the single thread varieties follow the thread form specs more accurately?
