Ebay buyers beware - Scrodmaster

I should have looked more closely at the previous feedback, I guess. In the past 12 months, this seller has had multiple complaints about the amount of time it took to ship. But I didn't. I learned, though.

I was needing an EM holder for 1/8" shank tools. I found 2 sellers on Ebay - Scrodmaster, Zaydajones, and A2Z. Scrodmaster was a few bucks cheaper for an apparently almost identical part to what A2Z lists and the shipping section said normally ships in 1 day, delivery in 3-6 days (or faster, depending on method). So, I bought it and paid immediately after winning the auction. That was on 7 July. I was to be out of town the week of 15 July, so I knew it might not make it before I left for the trip, but it would certainly be in before the end of that week, so I'd be able to use it for a project when I got back before leaving for another weeklong trip. It wasn't even marked as shipped until 15 July! I emailed the seller asking why it had taken so long to ship, but never did get a response. In the meantime, I had to find another way to finish the project it was originally really needed for. I ended up boring out a piece of 3/8" bar to fit the 1/8" shank into and put that into my 3/8" holder. I didn't measure runout, but there was probably some. Certainly not ideal. Anyway, I got back on Sunday (yesterday) from that trip, and picked up my mail at the post office this morning. It was in the mail, marked as having arrived on 22 July. At least the amount of time in transit was right.I could have lived with the long shipping time. Not happy about it, but it happens, I know. I had already moved on.

Got home from work tonight and opened the package. Looks like a nice tool. Put it on the spindle of the mill and less than two revolutions it stops. I thought maybe a burr or something. Nope. It's fully seated already. I looked at the Sherline holder that had come with the mill when I bought it and it's threaded all the way to the end. This one is not. My spindle threads extend out just under 0.300". The threads in this tool don't even start until over 0.210" in! I am a bit scared to run this thing at 10,000 rpm with a little bitty EM in it for fear of it flying off. I know there's not a lot of stress on the tool from that small of an EM, but with less then 2 full threads engaged, it doesn't seem very safe to me.

I had opened a case against the seller for the delayed shipping (didn't receive my item), especially because the seller never responded to my messages. Ebay closed it because it ended up being marked as shipped the next day. I've opened another because it is not as described, since it does fit, but it won't really "work" on my Sherline spindle, for which the listing says it was intended. I don't know if I'll hear from the seller this time or not. I guess we'll see. Either way, I will not be buying from this seller again. It's not worth the hassle.
