Hello, I'm a mechanical/electrical engineering co-op at company "x". One of our assembly lines just got decommissioned and I requested to have the machines with robotics shipped back up here. I have one 4-axis Adept robot (XYZ+Theta) and the other two are 3-axis, Same robots, just no rotation. I already pulled the robots from their bases/enclosures and striped and trashed the rest of the machines. The Z axis are 400W brushless servos with brakes and the X and Y axis are 750W brushless servos all connected to precision ball screw whatsits. Problem I'm having is that these motors are all being driven by Adept's "Smartamp". Basically the robot plugs into 110v outlet, 24V PSU for logics and a firewire cable (IEEE 1394) and thats it. Is there any way to control these things with the smartamps or am I going to have to replace them with aftermarket amps?
