I made this plaque last week to go on the box my mother-in-laws ashes were to be buried in. She passed away September 15, 2012. That was one of the worst days of my life.
She and my wife would text back and forth because she couldn't hear to talk on the phone. She wore a Cochlear Implant and without it, she was stone deaf. I got to spend Friday afternoon with her. We were laughing and telling jokes and just having a good time. Then Saturday afternoon about 5:00 PM, my wife came in and told me she had sent 4 or 4 text messages to her mom and hadn't gotten a reply and she was going to her house. I had a real uneasy feeling about it, so I told her I'm going with you. It's a good thing I did. As we entered her house, my wife took off to the back of the house where the computer was and I went around to the TV room. There she was. She had apparently been on the floor for about 5 hours.
We had her cremated and buried her Fridat June 28, 2013.
I programmed it in GibbsCam, and I used 3 cutters to make the plaque. I machined most of the material off with a 3/8 3 flute end mill, they I did the raised engraving with a 1/16 2 flute end mill, then the bible verse was done with a .010 diameter end mill. The whole plaque took almost 12 hours to make. Talk about a labor of love. That was it.
