My first Haas

Hello to everybody,

I just ordered a humble MiniMill with very basic options:

- High flow coolant pump
- Programmable Coolant Nozzle

It's the first time I am going to work with a 'real' CNC and I would like to share with you guys what tooling I will be buying, and some questions I have, so any comment or recommendation will help. I will be working with plastic (almost all the time) and aluminum.

- Tool Holders: MariTool. I used before their collets and no problems. The tool holders are supposed to be Made In USA.

- Retention Knobs: JM Performance. I heard good reviews about them. Is necessary the high torque version?

- Vice: Gerardi: Trying to get the most Z clearance possible, this is the lowest profile vice I have found. Any experience with this vises?

- Power: I have in my shop 208V single phase. The dealer told me that the machine will work fine with that, but I do not feel 100% sure about it. 240V or 3 phases will provide any improvement?

- Air treatment: The dealer recommended to use a dryer. What kind of dryer will work without spending a fortune?

- Tool Height Measure. I was thinking to measure the tools using a digital height gage and a granite surface. I am looking for a fixture for the tool holder but I have not found nothing yet. I guess I will be finish machining it... To reference the parts I will be using a Haimer 3D sensor. I used it before and I am happy with it.

Thanks for your reading!
