First post and new to CNC but hopefully I won't come across as too much of a newbie!
I've been collecting parts for my machine over the past several months and almost have everything. I want to run a gantry with dual motors and I'm at the point where I'm trying to figure out the best method for my rails and ball screws. Here's what I have:
I was able to get TBR20 linear rails from linearmotionbearings2008 so those will mount directly onto the 40-4080 rails. Now I'm trying to decide how to attach the ballscrews. I've seen these mounted either side by side (horizontally) or top and bottom (vertically). I'd prefer a top bottom arrangement as that would leave a smaller footprint for my machine.
I ordered extra 40-4080 extrusions to mount the ballscrews onto but I'm wondering if that's a little overkill. Since the ballscrews won't mount directly onto the 40-4080 I'd have to make an adapter plate so should I forget the extra 40-4080 and just mount the BK/BF12 mounts onto an endplate that also holds my motors?

- 80/20 40-4080 Extrusions
- TBR20 rails w/ SBR16UU Bearing Blocks
- RM1605 ballscrews w/ BK/BF12 support blocks
- Nema23 motors and controller from AJ Quick
