Hello all,
I'm a complete newbie to the CNC/CAM world, so I appreciate the time or any input.
I'm doing research for a potential business application with CNC. Specifically I'm trying to understand the steps and challenges in processing a high volume of 2.5D models. After reading a lot of posts in this forum, I understand that for most CAM packages, there is a very steep learning curve.
That said, once someone has gotten past the learning curve, I'm trying to get a sense of the time involved in coding/processing a 3d model into GCode with CAM software. I'm also assuming that I would have a "good" software package like GibbsCAM (or any of the others). I know this answer will vary greatly by level of detail of the model, but my question is:
Approximately how long would it take for someone who is proficient in CAM to process a 3D model into GCode for a 2" x 2" model with small to medium amounts of detail? I attached a few pictures of the types of pieces I'd look to be creating. Would it be approximately 10 minutes? 30? 4 hours?
Thanks again for the time. Look forward to your responses.
