I just joined up and wanted to say hi and introduce myself.
I bought a Craftex B2227L 10 x 18 lathe a couple of years ago. About 6 months ago I moved it from my garage into a room in my basement, It is much more enjoyable working with it there, especially in the winter. I like to do a little inventing and often find it useful for making small parts. I am learning to make my own simple tools for the lathe.
Besides the lathe I have a drill press, wood band saw, metal band saw, table saw, MIG welder, and a lot of other tools I have collected over the years.
I made a milling attachment for my lathe, although I have not done very much with it yet. I find setting work up on a vertical surface a bit awkward. I may buy a small miling machine eventually, but I want to wait until I know enough to know what I want.
I have put three of the inexpensive DROs on my lathe. I wanted one on the compound because I use the compound mounted on a bracket for one axis when using the lathe as a mill. I generally don't machine things that require super accuracy, good thing too!
I love reading the forums and learning new things based on other's experience.
